Job Overview



The Inventory Control Associate is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring that inventory levels are consistent with Doidge Building Centres Ltd standards. This role involves tracking inventory movements, conducting regular audits, and resolving discrepancies to support efficient yard/warehouse operations and prevent stock shortages or overages.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

include but are not limited to:

Conducts regular cycle counts and audits with accuracy in a timely manner. Track inventory levels, stock movements, and product transfers. Ensure inventory integrity and identify potential sources of inventory losses. Implement corrective measures as required in conjunction with the Branch Manager and associated stores Follows up on stock-out and inventory control for departments. Shrink conscious and works diligently to reduce loss Work closely with yard staff to ensure proper handling and storage of inventory. Move merchandise to appropriate areas using a forklif Identify "dead stock" and develop a plan to reduce inventory levels Work with other Doidge Locations on stock leveling Identify overstocked inventory and work to reduce these Maintain and update location codes in the store and the yard/warehouse Collaborate with Branch Manager and Yard Manager on optimizing inventory levels, procedures, and storage space Work with other staff on effective purchasing, ensuring correct pricing and quantities are being ordered Prepare purchase orders based on Suggested Order reports and onsite inventory levels Will require an understanding of receiving procedures. Have an understanding of merchandising techniques.

Sales and Customer Service

Provide excellent customer service to all Doidge Building Centres Ltd.'s customers ensuing that they have a unique and consistent customer experience. Build strong lasting relationships with retail, professional, and contractor customers. Assist customers with their product/project requirements in the store, over the phone, and via email. Utilize effective questioning and listening techniques to identify and qualify customer requirements. Provide appropriate information on suggested products and alternatives explaining features, benefits, and providing application advice as required. Process sales on computer as per procedures; locate product(s) on computer, ensure stock availability, and confirm next available delivery date(s). Clearly understand sales objectives and expectations on a daily basis. Increase sales and margin with add-on sales and up selling techniques. Provide quotes from building plans and/or material lists. Support and promote all marketing initiatives. Follows Doidge Building Centres Ltd. And Rona's standards by following the Daily 8s program. Remain current on flyers and promotional events. Provide information and locate promotional products for customers as required. Prepare special orders, obtain required information and specifications from customer, contact vendor to establish and confirm price and available delivery date. Applies appropriate margin and informs customer of the amount required for deposit. Forward paperwork to the Special Order Purchaser for follow up. Process web order transactions. Resolves customer complaints and objections including investigating, interpreting policy, and taking the appropriate action to ensure customer satisfaction. Refers difficult situations to Branch Manager or Manager on Duty.

Store Operations

Maintains a safe and clean working environment and assists with the cleanliness of the store by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, doing light housekeeping of office areas and store as needed. Able to perform Manager on Duty duties if/when needed; may be a keyholder. Keyholders are responsible for opening/closing the store, alarm setting, following safe opening and closing procedures.

Other

Follows all Doidge Building Centres Ltd.'s policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Health and Safety Manual, National Health and Safety Guide, Code of Conduct, and any other company communication. Upholds Section 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including, but not limited to adhering to safe work practices, wearing personal protective equipment, and participating in health and safety training. Participates in regular professional development and training including computer assisted training and Workday Learning. Participates in RONA training programs and formal/informal vendor training when required. May be required to assist with other team members' training on procedures and sales and service techniques. Regular attendance at scheduled meetings including store meetings and shrink and department walks. May participate in store committees (Joint Health and Safety Committee, Social Committee, etc.). Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications



Exemplary interpersonal skills; listening, and verbal and written communication skills. Previous experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, and lumber yard experience. Ability to develop strong contractor customer relations Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Effective time management and problem-solving skills. Proficient computer skills, including: Inventory Systems, POS Systems, Microsoft Office, etc. Basic math skills. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Flexible availability based on store needs (may include evenings and weekends). Knowledge of the building and construction industry; trends, products, application techniques, and projects. Retail and sales experience in the hardware and contractor industry. First aid trained is an asset. Fork Lift certification is an asset.

Working Conditions



The Inventory Control Associate will work in the store, warehouse, and lumber yard environments which may involve exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels. The role requires standing, walking, and lifting inventory items. Position may be physically demanding at times; light and medium lifting can be a component of this position. Use of ladders and lifting techniques when required.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
