Summary

Note: These are full-time Support positions (35 hours per week).
Duties: Under the general direction of the Manager, the incumbent provides support services and interventions to ensure the academic, personal and career success of international students who come to the College from many countries, cultures and religions and with varying abilities to communicate in English. The incumbent references Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) policies as they pertain to international students, and provides those students with advice and support. The incumbent supports students in their understanding and transition from orientation, throughout their academic progression to post-graduate employment, further education, or immigration into Canada.
The incumbent actively supports the internationalization of Fanshawe College by leading a variety of information sessions, professional development and event activities designed to accelerate support for a multinational, multicultural student body with a focus on immigration and employment.
Qualifications
Post-secondary 3-year diploma/degree or equivalent in International Relations, Social Service, Psychology or a related discipline
Minimum 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working, writing and communicating in a multicultural environment delivering services/marketing in culturally and linguistically sensitive/different environments
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
Licensed as a Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA), or have successfully passed the EPE (Entry to Practice Exam)
Experience in various immigration services, preferably advising international students on academic and immigration matters
Preference for a second language capability from amongst the United Nations\xe2\x80\x99 six official languages
Experience working within a Canadian work setting and the demonstrated ability to model Canadian workplace standards
Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
