Your opportunity:

Working with a dynamic team and under the general direction ofthe Senior Manager, Community, Global and Intercultural Experience, you will be dedicated to the enrichment of the co-curricular life of the campus by serving as the main front-line support for the International Student Centre.

You will assume primary responsibility for Student Life Programs’ front-line services for international students and those seeking to internationalize their experience. You will provide tailored information, support and and referrals on all matters related to international student support and programming, intercultural development and global learning. You will achieve this by taking a holistic, student-centred approach to student success coordinating the Centre’s front- line services, creating marketing & communications promotional materials, administering the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) at the local level, and providing overall administrative support to the Centre.

You will also provide administrative support for the department, including supporting logistical details for events, making appointments and coordinating schedules, agendas and meeting minutes, and maintaining records.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Acting as the first point of contact for general enquiries (i.e. regarding international student enquiries, referral to immigration advisor's, assisting students with the University Health Insurance Plan)
  • Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming (including handling expenses for events)
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for program and service activities
  • Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
  • Maintaining information on digital platforms
  • Screening and making referrals to appropriate resources and services

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of related work experience in a student life role at the post-secondary education level providing excellent customer service and administrative support to diverse student populations
  • Experience working with diverse communities (i.e. international students), responding to student enquiries and having a sound understanding of student transition issues and an ability to work within an anti-oppressive/equity framework
  • Experience creating content for marketing and promotional materials and updating information on digital platforms (i.e. websites)
  • Experience with coordinating events and logistical details
  • Intermediate computer proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills
  • Superb organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FIPPA) and management of confidential information
  • Must possess the ability to relate to students in a manner that builds trust and confidence
  • Must show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 09 - $60,006 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $76,739. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
