International Medical Graduate IMG \xe2\x80\x93 FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE

  • Part Time Position \xe2\x80\x93 2 days a week (10 to 15 hrs) per week (days, afternoon and evening shift as a company grows)
  • Position Start Date: At least 1 months in the future
PRACTICE DESCRIPTION Alexandra (Alex) Nowak, Nurse Practitioner (NP) practice is a dynamic functional medicine practice focus on preventative medicine through hormone optimization, located virtually in Ontario. Alex Nowak, NP is an experienced Canadian trained and certified Nurse Practitioner in Ontario. The clients of iOptimal Functional Medicine Clinic are highly educated with high health literacy and are generally business owners, executives and professionals and their spouses. We do not provide services to children or geriatric patients with complex medical problems or cognitive impairment since these are beyond the scope of primary and secondary prevention. POSITION SUMMARY Nurse Practitioner (NP) will ensure that the International Medical Gradual (IMG) participates in patient care under supervision at all times. A certain degree of autonomy with supervision may be established over time. No minimum IMG experience is required \xe2\x80\x93 willing to train a new IMG. However experience and certification in a Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapies (BHRT) will be an advantage. The IMG will report to the supervising Nurse Practitioner. CLINICAL DUTIES will include but are not limited to:
  • Virtual consultations: perform comprehensive and problem-focused history; promote wellness and health maintenance; perform appropriate laboratory and other diagnostic studies.
  • Support continuum of care: facilitate patient referral to the appropriate specialist or agency; advocate on behalf of patients; conduct virtual follow-up visits with patients and updating medical histories.
  • Virtual office duties: returning phone calls from patients, replying to patient emails with clinical questions, contacting pharmacist and trouble shooting the concerns, counselling patients regarding initial comprehensive consultation; maintain safe working environment by complying with policies and procedures.
NON-CLINICAL DUTIES will include but are not limited to:
  • Support, advise and educate regarding best practices in the delivery of care.
  • Assess and improve quality of patient outcomes through evidence-based practice.
  • Assess, develop, implement and evaluate process/practice improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to and ensure the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, practices and performance standards.
  • Contribute to clinical and professional development through mentoring and coaching of staff (PA, RPN / RN and admin ).
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must hold International Medical Masters Degree, equivalent degree or equivalent experience.
  • Must meet the competencies outlined by the province in the Defining the Physician Assistant Role in Ontario http://www.healthforceontario.ca/UserFiles/file/AHP/Inside/PA-role-april-2007-en.pdf.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation and presentation skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members.
  • Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to learn and optimize use of Accuro EMR system.
  • Satisfactory references required. Criminal background check required.
BENEFITS:
  • Compensation is based on pre-set work activities, with potential earnings of $30 to $50 per hour (negotiable based on experience)
