This is a temporary, intern/co-op position supporting mechanical engineering projects in the Pickering office. Under direct supervision, this role includes standard engineering work requiring application of standard established techniques and procedures to carry out tasks in support of Nuclear Facilities. Assignments involve responsibility for planning/conducting tasks or portions of a larger project under direction of more experienced staff. Provides technical support related to planning, designing, analyzing, constructing and maintaining structures, systems and components. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Mechanical Engineering Manager to support a major component replacement project at the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station.
This position can be either a 4 month Co-Op term up to a 16 month Internship depending on the availability of the candidate.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supports standard engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.
  • Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
  • May independently evaluate, select and apply standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Works on special projects, as directed.
  • Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.
  • Utilizes existing and/or acquired technical expertise to find improved technical solutions to support the product life cycle/replacement of current Framatome technologies
  • Field support for ongoing projects in execution phase depending on execution schedules
  • Actively participates in solving technical issues identified by project management, business line management or by customer request with the objective to increase business opportunities for Framatome Canada Ltd

Required Skills

Required Experience
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this opportunity:
  • 3rd year or greater Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering student.

  • Strong technical problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills

The following may be used to differentiate candidates who apply for this position:
  • Previous internship/co-op experience in field of study
  • Nuclear site access Security Clearance will be required prior to start of work.
  • Experience with 3D Modeling, Engineering Analysis Software, Engineering Codes and Standards (i.e. ASME B31.1, ASME BPVC, CSA N285)
  • Experience with Customer Relations or Customer service.
  • Experience with OPG or Bruce Power ECC processes.
