Position Overview

The Simulation, Optimization and Systems (SOS) Group in Autodesk Research is looking for a passionate and skilled research intern for Summer 2023 at our Toronto office located in the MaRS Discovery District. The position will involve working on and enhancing a cutting-edge framework for solving PDE-constrained inverse problems in computational engineering design. The work will include developing new algorithms and validating them within the framework.

Responsibilities

• 
  Conduct original research into solving data-driven inverse problems that arise in computational engineering design for fluid dynamics-based applications
• 
  Develop and implement a prototype toolbox, including data assimilation capabilities
• 
  Benchmark, test, and extend the capabilities of this toolbox
• 
  Collaborating with other team members to advance the state of the art in this field
• 
  Presenting research findings at conferences and workshops, and publishing papers in relevant journals
• 
  Advocating for technology developments related to your work internally

Minimum Qualifications

• 
  Currently pursuing a PhD degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering sciences, or other related disciplines
• 
  Deep knowledge of computational fluid/thermal dynamics, knowledge of the Lattice Boltzmann Method is preferred.
• 
  Experience and excellent knowledge of Python, C++ programming and scientific libraries
• 
  Excellent skills in machine learning libraries (JAX and PyTorch)
• 
  A strong background in physics, numerical techniques, and computational methods, and parallel computing
• 
  Experience using gradient-based optimization for solving large-scale optimization problems
• 
  Proven record of publication and collaboration skills
