The position at a glance

The RISK function of BNP Paribas constitutes the Second Line of Defense of the Bank. It aims at independently reviewing, assessing, challenging and communicating on the level of risk generated by the various business lines and activities within the Group. Hence, RISK both protects and serves the bank by acting as a key contributor to its long-term development.

RISK Mission Statements:

  • To advise the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Management on risk appetite definition
  • To contribute as an objective \xe2\x80\x9csecond pair of eyes\xe2\x80\x9d that risks taken on by the Bank align with its policies
  • To report and alert Bank Management of the status of risks to which the Bank is exposed
  • To contribute to the development and growth of the risk culture within the Group
Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) is the process of identifying, capturing, analyzing, informing, mitigating and controlling the end-to-end risks presented to a BNP Paribas entity, its data, its operations, its finance and its reputation when engaging in an arrangement with an external or internal party(s).

The Canadian RISK platform was created early 2020, the main mandate of the newly created RISK Shared-Service platform in Canada is to support and deliver high-quality services to the U.S. RISK teams.

The intern will be located within the RISK ORM Canadian Platform, which is providing second line of defense, Operational Risk Management services to internal activities across Americas (including Canada, US, Mexico and Latin Americas), and will more specifically contribute to the TPRM transversal field of expertise.

The intern will join a new and dynamic team, exposed to a vast range of different tasks and projects, as expected for a recently created platform.

In detail

The main areas of responsibility for the Intern are the following: * Assist in performing second-line-of-defense independent challenge of:
  • The Third Risk Party Management framework,
  • Operational risks and control inputs.
  • Contribute to the performance of assessment, monitoring and effective challenge of the TPRM framework on:
  • Risk identification,
  • Risk assessment,
  • Risk mitigations and Key Risk Indicators (KRI).
  • Support the preparation of reporting views to Senior management with regards to:
  • Third Party Risk Management related projects and initiatives,
  • The Third Party Risk Committee (TPRC),
  • The Third Party Risk Management framework\xe2\x80\x99s Policies and Standards,
  • Group database on critical Third Party arrangements.
Qualifications

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
  • Student completing their Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Supply Chain Operations Management, Communications, Pure and Applied Sciences, Political Sciences, Law, Engineering or Business Administration with a graduation date of December 2023 or May 2024.
  • Experience working with cross functional and multi \xe2\x80\x93 cultural teams strongly preferred
  • Experience with data analysis, preparation and presentation of data is an asset;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Proficiency in Power BI (but not necessary)
  • Keen interest in following the evolving industry trends
  • Bilingual - French and English.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision-making, planning and organizational skills (ability to multi-task);
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to effectively collaborate with colleagues, team members, team leader and supervisor;
  • Strong problems solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
