Major Duties


The Intermediate/Senior Accountant internally known as Financial Analyst is responsible for financial reporting and division risk management responsibilities including financial, safety, legal, information technology, and overall business performance. Assure effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with current international financial reporting standards (IFRS) government regulation.

Specific Responsibilities


Financial Reporting & Accounting
  • Co-supervise accounts payable functions- including accrual management and receipt not voucher management.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations along with other month end closing activities.
  • Accurately prepare the monthly financial reporting package and supporting analyses on a timely basis. This includes ensuring divisional financial results and variances to plan are adequately explained and areas of risk identified.
  • Management of Service revenue stream of approximately 5M.
  • Inventory management ensuring the inventory records are accurate and refreshed in time.
  • Prepare quarter end and year end internal and external audit working papers.
  • Plan and coordinate the preparation of annual budgets for the division.

Internal Control, Policies and Procedures
  • Maintenance of the accounting records in a timely, accurate and complete manner.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to in a consistent manner with ATS policies, and that the financial reporting standards are applied consistently.
  • Regularly review policies and procedures with manager and controller to develop best practice approaches for the financial management of the company.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of company assets.
  • Maintenance of the internal controls documentation.

Business Partnering
  • Review financial results and provide recommendations on potential cost savings opportunities.
  • Provide supporting financial analyses for business partners as required.
  • Respond to inquiries from department heads and perform required analysis
  • Prepare and distribute monthly department expense reports and ensure and the accuracy of the reports


Qualifications


Education:
  • College diploma /Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in business or accounting.
  • Working towards the CPA designation

Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting / auditing experience
  • Advanced Excel skills required; JD Edwards experience is an asset
  • Must be hands-on, detail and results-oriented and able to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Communicates effectively with people at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Strong analytical, financial reporting and accounting skills
  • Exposure to a manufacturing or job cost accounting environment is preferable
