And this is where you come in...Reporting to Accounting Manager, the Accounts Payable Accountant will work as a member of the finance team responsible for the maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions and related tasks. The successful applicant should have a positive attitude and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities

  • Support month end cycle through preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, balance sheet review and variance analysis
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with the Company policies and procedures
  • Support various audits (i.e. annual financial audit and specific audits, etc.) by preparing supporting documents and coordinating with other departments
  • Work with other departments to coordinate the flow of information to and from the Finance Department
  • Assist with other departments needs as it relates to finance
  • Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries for transactions
  • Prepare regular bank reconciliations
  • Review expense reports for validity and compliance with the company's policies
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations for areas such as fixed assets, prepaid, cash, other assets, and cash.
General AP
  • Assemble, review and verify invoices
  • Ensure proper approvals are received for the invoices
  • Enter and upload invoices into the accounting system and set up for payment
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
  • Maintain vendor files, correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Maintain confidentiality of organizational information
  • Assist with data input and management as processes and systems are improved
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years' experience in accounting
  • Diploma or undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting or related experience
  • Strong computer skills including Excel
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Pro-active approach and initiative
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
  • Work effectively in a time pressured environment
  • Basic knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
  • A positive, team-player attitude with a strong work ethic
