Job Description



The Intermediate System Operation Support Specialist role is responsible for providing 7 x 24 operating control and monitoring support for EIS Command Centre Services.

EIS Command Centre Services at Canada Life provides Operational support to Canada Life.

This includes:

  • On a 7 x 24-hr rotating shift basis, 1st level support for monitor all operational equipment throughout the Enterprise, including Mainframes, Client Servers, DASD, network (LAN\WAN).
  • Ensure the automation systems, supporting some operations, function appropriately, recommend and implement continuous improvements to this process.
  • Provide incident/problem management on issues impacting service delivery as it relates to all systems, such as mainframe, client server, LAN\WAN, etc.
  • Provide 2nd level support to the Service Desk on calls relating to applications and system performance.
  • Provide 1st level after regular business hours support to clients, management and staff on calls relating to mainframe application, system performance and any tools being accessed.
  • Provide system knowledge by identifying/recommending and implement policy/procedure enhancements where existing policies/procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed.
  • Provide support by responding to, and report on, any physical security issue as it relates to Datacentre environment, as identified by personal observation, or by security staff.

What you will bring
  • A post secondary degree/certificate in Information services or equivalent (e.g. non-specialized bachelor degree or business-related community college diploma).
  • Good communication and problem solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail skills required.
  • Ability to work both days and nights (shift work).
  • Willingness and demonstrated ability to adapt to change.
  • Ability to work independently in a face paced, high pressure environment.
