The goal of our Student & New Grad Program is to develop the leaders of tomorrow by providing meaningful work experiences that allow students to gain valuable industry knowledge from all levels of the organization. The Summer Student Treasury will support a broad suite of functions within the Treasury group, including Vendor Setup, Risk Mitigation, Cash Management, and Account Payable. The Treasury team is responsible for a breadth of activities including cash flow management and forecasting, investment management, dividend and debt payments, foreign exchange transactions as well as ensuring treasury policies and controls are in place.
What You\'ll Be Doing

• Risk Mitigation / Fraud Prevention
  • Reviews and verifies vendor and banking information on new and updated vendor setup requests by reaching out to both the vendor and their bank to confirm.
  • Completes daily bank reconciliations; ensuring timely reconciliation by working with business units.
  • Uploads cheque registers for positive pay and actioning cheque exceptions.
• Daily Cash Management
  • Creating wires, processing payments and ensuring adequate DOA.
  • Monitoring daily banking activities to assist in cash forecasting.
  • Settles FX trades and updates FX rates in accounting system.
• Accounts Payable
  • Assist with entering payable invoices.
• Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring

• Completing the 2nd or 3rd year of a Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration degree.
• Peference are students majoring in Finance, Accounting, or Economics, but other majors are acceptable as well.
• Students must be enrolled in a formal co-op/internship program with their post-secondary institution.
• Ability to be self motivated and work with a focus on quality of work while paying attention to detail.
• Exhibits superior teamwork skills and the ability to work independently.
• Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions

• Office based work environment.
• Gibson has adopted a hybrid work environment for Calgary-based employees (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday employees work in the Calgary head office).
