ABOUT THE ROLE

The Intermediate Project Accountant will work collaboratively with our operations and finance team to best support the business ensuring efficient project delivery, management, and control. Accountable for all aspects of accounting, the Project Accountant will work proactively to deliver solutions and services to the business.

DUTIES

Develop your existing knowledge of a residential real estate development company including full cycle accounting tasks, job cost forecasting, property acquisitions, land development, construction and more. The successful candidate will also have full ownership of their projects from development to sales stage.

  • Full cycle accounting for assigned projects
  • Prepare month-end journal entries for assigned portfolio
  • Prepare monthly operational reporting packages
  • Prepare GST reconciliation and remittances
  • Prepare year-end working papers
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Performing month-end closing tasks including WIP (Work in progress) adjustments etc.
  • Oversee billing and cash collection
  • Assisting with training of junior staff members
THE REQUIREMENTS
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting (real estate experience preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (emphasis on MS Excel)
  • Experience with Sage300 consider an asset
  • Budgeting and cost analysis experience consider an asset
  • Looking for a passionate candidate who is interested in projects and ownership of "their project"
COMPENSATION
  • $65,000 - $75,000 annual (Flexible, depending on experience)
  • Annual bonus / Annual performance review
  • 3 weeks' vacation
