We're looking for a skilled and detailed oriented

Intermediate Interior Designer

to join our team. The successful candidate will bring strong design sensibility, technical expertise, and project coordination skills. This role requires the ability to work independently on project components while collaborating closely with senior team members, consultants and clients. You will contribute to the development of design concepts, oversee documentation, and help ensure design integrity throughout the life of a project. This position is permanent full-time. Start date is immediate after candidate has been selected. The candidate must have a BC driver's license and have a car.

What we expect from you:

Graduated from NCIDQ accredited Interior Design program or Diploma in interior design A minimum of 3-6 years local experience in residential or hospitality design (commercial project experience is a plus) Proficient in Auto-CAD: experience working with external references, annotative blocks, dimensions and scales Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Proficient with Sketch-up, Enscape, Photoshop, and Adobe applications Strong knowledge of technical details and millwork joinery Strong knowledge of development and construction process Strong knowledge of materials and finishes as well local suppliers and sales representatives Strong knowledge of the BC Building Code, accessibility standards, construction practices and contract documentation Develop and refine design concepts in collaboration with senior designers and project leads Excellent space planning, detailing and problem-solving skills Prepare complete drawing packages including plans, elevations, sections and details Coordinate with consultants (architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural) to ensuite design integration Attend and contribute to client meetings and presentations Prepare schedules, material specifications and FF&E packages Assist with permit and tender documentation, including code and accessibility reviews Conduct site visits and respond to design related questions during construction Support or manage small to mid-scale projects under the supervision of a lead designer/Principal Mentor junior team members and assist with internal quality control of design documentation Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Ability to manage time efficiently and work on multiple projects simultaneously Excellent project management and organizational skills Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language Good knowledge of FF&E process and procedures Good knowledge/resourceful on local retail/e-commerce for model home merchandising You have a positive can-do attitude along with professional client service to represent our studio You are passionate about design and architecture You hold yourself accountable and have strong work ethic. Provide mentorship to Junior team members and assist with internal quality control of design documentation and guiding them to align with Area3's standards and vision. Maintain sample library and liaising with agents/reps to update products
