Intermediate GIS Technician Meridian Forest Services Limited is a professional consulting firm that specializes in forest management. We are based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia with office locations in Coombs, and Port Alberni. We are committed to providing safe, quality, efficient and professional forestry services for both private and crown sectors of British Columbia's forest industry.We are currently looking for an Intermediate GIS Technician to join our team.
Ideally this candidate will possess the following qualifications: A GIS Diploma/Degree (or equivalent related experience) with working knowledge of the resource sectors and/or operational mapping within the forest industry. The applicant must be able to independently produce and deliver accurate and professional deliverables with particular attention on quality, time and cost parameters, both independently and in a team environment. Must have strong ArcMap skills and be familiar with the ESRI Suite of mapping products, Cengea
Forest Resources, Microsoft Office, Trimble GPS software, ArcGIS online Collector
Application and Road Eng.
Preference will be given to those demonstrating a strong forestry background.All Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following:

• 3 to 5 years experience using ESRI software products for mapping and analysis
• Creation and maintenance of accurate geospatial databases.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of GIS systems; the policies, procedures, rules and regulations related to the work; and of basic programming methods and principles.
• Excellent data management and cartographic skills.
• LiDAR Systems and Processing.
• Organizational skills with regard to data archiving, structure, naming conventions and other management standards.
• A valid BC drivers license
