Consor Engineers in Toronto is looking for an experienced, versatile and motivated intermediate ecologist / senior environmental technician to further build our growing and diverse environmental consulting business in Canada. You will focus on field data collection, analysis and technical reporting for a range of industries, including transportation, linear infrastructure, land development, mineral and aggregate resources and energy/power resources. Throughout the day, you'll collaborate with other ecologists, engineers, planners, and regulatory specialists. Your work will directly impact sustainable development, balancing infrastructure needs with the protection of Canada's natural landscapes. We're looking for someone who thrives in collaborative environments, communicates effectively, and brings curiosity and initiative to field and office work.
What You'll Do:

Support a wide range of project work and proposal pursuits with a focus on:
+ Field data collection and analysis
+ Baseline characterization studies, effects assessments
+ Environmental permitting and regulatory approval activities
+ Environmental monitoring and inspections during construction
Mentor and lead junior ecologists and other technicians
Complete or coordinate field studies that include various ecological surveys which may include surveys for species at risk, birds, bats, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, vegetation, wetlands and/or fish and fish habitat
Carry out desktop-based reviews and analyses including species at risk and natural heritage screenings; compile and interpret the results
Contribute to technical reports, proposals, and other client deliverables
Develop positive working relationships in a highly dynamic and supportive team environment.
Provide creative and innovative solutions for projects by staying current on relevant regulatory drivers, emerging technologies, and market demands.
What You'll Need:
:
University degree or college diploma in Biology, Environmental Science, Fish and Wildlife, or a related field
5+ years of progressive consulting or industry-related experience in ecological field surveys and assessment
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in ecological field surveys and data organization and management with proficiency in digital data collection tools (e.g. Survey123, Collector)
Strong working knowledge of standard field protocols for a range of ecological surveys and previous experience working in ecosystems within Ontario
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage field work logistics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing technical reports and presentations
ELC Certification and OWES Certification would be considered an asset.
Valid Ontario driver's licence is required.
