ABOUT THE POSITION
Alchemy is looking for an
Intermediate Bookkeeper
to join our team and support our growing client base. This role is ideal for someone who is confident in full-cycle bookkeeping, thrives in a remote work environment, and is excited to contribute to both client success and team collaboration.
This is a remote position, however
you
must legally be able to work in Canada
as you will be hired as an Employee. You must have good internet access at all times, and be a good communicator and committed to showing up to your work consistently. You would be reporting to the Business Owner, and occasionally the Operations Manager.
Job Type:
Part-time (25 hours per week; with the possibility to go full time)
Hourly Rate:
Starting at $24/hour (depending on skills, experience, and overall fit)
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Client Account Management:
Complete full-cycle bookkeeping, including end-of-month reconciliations, A/R, A/P, payroll entries, and financial summaries
Create accurate, detailed financial records by utilizing QuickBooks Online and Dext
Manage sales tax filings and payroll across multiple provinces (depending on location of the client, and their engagement)
Manage multiple client files independently, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met
Prepare financial reports and identify inconsistenciesMaintain professional communication with clients via email, Zoom, or phone
Answer all questions about the finances of the client's business
Help identify client needs that could benefit from additional services (e.g., payroll or sales tax support) and communicate these opportunities to the team
Become fluent in our systems and tools to navigate and support clients efficiently
Revenue Contribution
Support client accounts that contribute to firm revenue
Stay within the scope of work and escalate out-of-scope requests to management
Team Collaboration & Support
Share knowledge and best practices with peers
Provide informal guidance to junior team members and assist with questions
Contribute constructively to team discussions and problem-solving efforts
Professional Growth
Take initiative in pursuing additional certifications or training in bookkeeping or accounting software
Share new skills and knowledge with the team to improve overall processes and efficiency
Core Requirements
Legally able to work in Canada
Have a reliable personal device (laptop or desktop) for remote work, a strong and stable internet connection, and a dedicated, distraction-free workspace at home
2-4 years of bookkeeping experience, including full-cycle bookkeeping and client-facing work (leading virtual meetings and presenting financial data to clients)
Bookkeeping certification preferred
Proficiency in QBO, Excel/Google Spreadsheet, and cloud-based systems
Good understanding of financial reports, accrual-based accounting, and payroll
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple clients and projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with digital businesses and online platforms, especially those that are used for cloud-based bookkeeping
