INTERIOR DESIGN ASSISTANT Shoots \xe2\x80\x99N Leaves is a boutique media company specializing in home renovation television. Reporting to the Vice President of Design and Operations, the Design Assistant will be responsible for supporting our Designers and Project Managers. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Represent Shoots \xe2\x80\x99N Leaves through polished communication, personal appearance and professionalism
• Provide support to the Designer and Project Manager through all phases of the project, including: consultations, site visits, design development, presentations, sourcing, and delivery
• Create and maintain technical drawings
• Support the Designers and Project Manager with building design packages including, but not limited to; floor plans, mood boards, specification documents, special project and DIY plans
• Deliver design packages to team members and sites, and ensuring packages are kept up-to-date
• Attend weekly design team meetings and share important project information
• Attend meetings, conference calls in absence of the Designer and Project Manager etc. and relaying information in the form of meeting minutes
• Support Designers with: Sourcing, purchasing (ensuring items arrive in good condition), returns, and storage

Reviewing shop drawings, quotes and invoices
Overseeing installation when required
Furniture load-in and dress days

• Support Project Managers: With budget management by ensuring receipts are archived and reconciling weekly spend against predicted spend and overall budget

To ensure material arrives on site on schedule

• Perform other related duties as required or assigned by the executive team.

OUR REQUIREMENTS

• Canadian citizenship or Permanent Resident status
• Art, Architecture or Interior Design education preferred
• 1 year of experience assisting residential projects construction/architecture/engineering environment
• Excellent knowledge of Revit (preferred) or AutoCAD
• Strong artistic skills, including hand rendering and sketching capabilities
• Strong understanding of how design drawings are to be built and implemented in real-world situations.
• Proficient in G Suite, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word
• Hands-on interior installation experience preferred
• Valid Ontario G Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Licence and vehicle
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong multi-tasking ability
• Meticulous eye for detail
• Willingness to adapt to the ever-changing priorities in the television production and design/construction environment
• Ability to lift and mobilize small to medium items, up to 25 lbs. while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques
• Ability to maneuver effectively around storage room, and office
• Position entails prolonged standing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, bending, and climbing
• Comprehensive knowledge to suppliers, purveyors and vendors of furnishing, fittings, lighting, art, textiles and other interior design related goods and services.
• Close ties to the interior design community. We love our colleagues to share resources, ideas and community contacts
• Passion for residential interior design
• Working knowledge of Ontario building codes, by-laws, space requirements, site requirements, and safety requirements are an asset
