  • Possesses excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and familiarity with insurance company portals, Applied, and Power Broker considered an asset);

The Insurance Broker will focus mainly on servicing existing clients, retention, as well as quoting and writing new business. Compensation is dependent upon level of experience. General Requirements:
  • Level 1 or Level 2 general insurance license
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Knowledge of the Insurance Industry and Sales Process
  • Commercial experience considered an asset
Outcomes: 1. Accountable for customer retention, premium growth, monthly and quarterly commitments as agreed to with the Personal Lines Manager. 2. Through your expertness, kindness, dependability and proactivity, Costen becomes and remains the clear \xe2\x80\x98wise choice\xe2\x80\x99 for our existing Clients who then refer us to their relatives, friends and colleagues who are in our target customer group. 4. Through your expertness, proactivity and kindness you will also help us grow our Commercial Division by reviewing customer occupations and determining which of your Personal Lines Clients own or manage a small or medium size business. Commercial quote opportunities will be referred to our Commercial Team. 5. Contribute to our important commitment to balance our Head Office Personal Lines Book to be less auto-heavy to achieve a 50/50 split by 2027. This \xe2\x80\x98key outcome\xe2\x80\x99 will be achieved by executing the following activities: a) Account Development: Offer and cross-sell Property policies to mono-line auto customers and prospects. b) Ask customers for \xe2\x80\x98renewal expiry dates\xe2\x80\x99 if they have other lines of insurance with another carrier. Then, add an Abeyance notice to our system for 60 days prior to the renewal date to conduct a renewal review, provide a quote and/or discuss letter of brokerage options with the customer. c) Ask for Referrals (Family and friends) of new and existing customers. d) Offer Personal Umbrella policies to existing customers. Responsibilities & Tasks: 1. The overall responsibility of this position is to be a vital part of and contributor to our Head Office commitments to sales volume, profitability, the customer experience, and the positive Costen Culture, in the Personal Lines Division. 2. Answer incoming phone calls from prospects and existing clients on your specific Client List. 3. Return voicemails, emails and texts from Clients on your specific Client List and assigned prospects within the timeframe set by the Personal Lines Manager, according to Costen\xe2\x80\x99s Service Standards. 4. Quote and issue new Personal Lines Insurance Policies such as auto, property, recreational, and travel insurance from inbound leads, following Costen\xe2\x80\x99s Underwriting Guidelines. 5. Service and assist all Costen customers with their inquires and make recommendations for claims, policy changes, and billing, including taking payments. 6. Update each Client\xe2\x80\x99s database information as you learn more about them. Check and use that Client information when communicating with them, to maximize your \xe2\x80\x98professional\xe2\x80\x99 value and build stronger and more supportive relationships. 7. Follow all set Policies & Processes for new business, endorsements and renewal reviews within the stated Insurance Company Binding Authority to minimize E&O Exposures. 8. Complete tasks and projects in the time frame required, as agreed to with the Personal Lines Manager. 9. Provide initial assistance, support, comfort and advice to Clients while they\xe2\x80\x99re reporting and experiencing a Claim. \xe2\x80\x98Go to bat\xe2\x80\x99 for them in difficult Claim situations. Provide initial dispute resolution for Clients with Underwriting and Claims Departments, when Clients express concerns. 10. Review weekly Abeyance Reports provided by the Document Control Administrator (DCA), and ensure Abeyances are followed up on and kept current. 11. Run Renewal Reports, review renewals, and proactively reach out to Clients to discuss coverage and rate options, cross-sell, etc. 12. Focus on retention of the current Book of business, ensuring that everything possible is done to retain the business and retain the Client (i.e. Offer remarkets, offer higher deductibles to lower premium, review discounts, etc.). 13. Maintain annual AIC educational requirements for Broker Licensing by attending seminars and webinars (Service, Sales, Technical, Product related) offered by Costen Management and our Insurance Partners.
