We want consistent and predictable operations done the right way, every time. Plains is currently looking to fill an Instrumentation Technician position at our Fort Whyte facility at Winnipeg, MB. The successful candidate will report to the PPTC Maintenance Team Lead and will be responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance activities at the Facilities, including the Pipeline and associated assets. This is a full-time position inside the Unifor Local 745. The successful candidate will be eligible for company benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision and Vacation days. Responsibilities: As a member of the Maintenance group, the successful candidate will perform the duties of Technician A, including but not limited to;
  • Meter Proving with a Brooks compact prover
  • Repair and maintenance of product quality instruments and analyzers
  • Repair, calibration, and maintenance of control and safety instrumentation along the PPTC pipeline, including truck loading facilities, railcar loading facilities, and remote valve sites.
  • Calibration and maintenance automated final element devices
  • Maintenance of SCADA, Flow Computers, and PLC systems
  • Line locating for First Calls
  • Facility maintenance
  • Travel along the pipeline with the overnight stays is required
  • Lead small instrumentation projects with contractors
  • Supporting operations and other trades as needed, such as rail loading, lock out tag out, inline pipe inspections, valve installations.
  • Position requires 10 Hour 4-day work week, call outs and overtime is required
  • On-call on a rotational basis for emergency response
Qualifications:
  • Journeyperson Red Seal Instrument Controls Technician or equivalent
  • Addition of a Journeyperson Red Seal Electrician is preferred (Dual Trade)
  • Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with a clean abstract
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Global Line locating Training
  • Ground disturbance level II
  • Maximo knowledge
  • Knowledge of P&ID, I/O and Electrical Drawings
  • Permanent residency within 100 km of the Facility;
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks;
  • Compliance with the Company\xe2\x80\x99s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing; and
  • Compliance with the Company\xe2\x80\x99s requirement to be clean shaven to ensure proper fit of emergency PPE.
