You have completed a BS in Eng\'g/Eng\'g Tech. You may have also obtained an advanced degree in similar fields that may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.). You have worked in an engineering role for at least 5 years and are ready to join Framatome and help deliver clean, safe energy and advance nuclear technology.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria
  • Understanding of OPG and Bruce Power Engineering Change Control (ECC) Process, CSA codes and standards, including, but not limited to CSA N290.14, CSA Q396.X.X, CSA N286.7, CSA C22.2
  • Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships
  • Good problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Engineering organizations may have additional qualification requirements with established criterion to demonstrate success including such items as training courses and/or qualification cards
  • Physical Requirements The employee must be able to :
  • Remain in a stationary position, walk, kneel and crouch.
  • Ability to operate a computer on a continual basis and communicate with various levels of the organization.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Experience with:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and methods related to power plants.
  • Preferably has previous experience in nuclear, power generation, consulting engineering fields and renewables/sustainable industries.
  • Must be able to obtain Federal security clearance
  • Must have general knowledge of relevant CAD software, Foxboro I/A platform, as well as proficiency in MS Office
  • Must be able to work as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • Must be able to attend industrial sites and observe all applicable safety regulations.
  • Bruce Power Engineering Change Control Process knowledge is plus.

Your Opportunity

As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer in Kincardine, Ontario, you will be part of the proven team in the Installed Base Business Unit. Under general supervision, performs varied and difficult engineering tasks requiring application of established techniques and procedures. Assignments involve responsibility for planning/conducting a complete task or portion of a larger project under direction of more experienced staff. Provides technical support related to planning, designing, analyzing, constructing and maintaining structures, systems and components. Provides engineering advice, as needed. Your work will include:
  • Performs routine and non-routine engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems
  • Knowledgeable in all pneumatic, electronic, electrical, mechanical and analytical instrumentation devices, Process flow diagrams, functional diagrams, P&IDs, Loop diagrams, & Logic diagrams, test plans etc. Design of new control systems and system retrofits
  • Prepare technical specifications and data sheets for cables, field instruments and procurement support to purchase I&C hardware, tender evaluation and review vendor documentation.
  • Prepare field Instrument Calibration Specifications (ICS) documents
  • Evaluate computer vendor products, consisting of system network design and network architectural documents
  • designs and technical specifications/data sheets for system hardware components.
  • Verify compliance to Hardware/software qualification requirements.
  • Software categorization and software vendor documentation acceptance and work coordination
  • FAT testing and commissioning oversight
  • Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and review design plans, drawing surveys and electrical and instrumentation and control calculations
  • Preparation and/or verification of procurement requisitions, tender reviews, vendor activities and deliverables.
  • Prepare electrical portions of the purchase requisitions, review technical content of supplier bids and technical submissions
  • Perform any required inspections as necessary for procurement of material.
  • Provide input into improvement ideas during project execution and close-out.
  • Production and/or review of specification of fiber, copper and wireless network components
  • Analysis of I/O loading, power and heat calculations, and hardware specifications
  • Completion of engineering documents including bill of materials, cable schedules and cross-wiring reports
  • Stamping and signing of drawings and specifications
  • Understanding of applicable CSA standards, ANSI standards, IEEE standards, Ontario Building Code, and other applicable codes.
  • Perform field walkdowns at client site and prepare the walkdown reports.
  • Provide regular reporting on work status to supervisor, and adhere to schedule, budget, and project priorities, to meet assigned goals and objectives.
