Position: Instrument TechnicianDivision: Utilities and EnvironmentDepartment: Saskatoon WaterTerm: 1 Permanent Full Time position available.Closing Date: 10/30/2024Labour Group: CUPE 47Posting: 3621Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Maintenance Engineer (Water Treatment), this position provides instrumentation installation and maintenance and related recommendations regarding the plant.Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains and troubleshoots programmable logical controllers (PLC), pneumatic instruments and all other control equipment associated with plant operations, including remote sites such as reservoirs and lift stations.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, as assigned.
  • Performs minor design modifications on instrumentation systems.
  • Provides plant instrumentation information to internal and external consultants, as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from a two-year, post-secondary Instrumentation Engineering Technology program.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Journeyman Industrial Instrument Mechanic Certificate.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within six months after date of hire, a valid Fireman\'s Certificate.
  • Five years\' experience involving the installation and maintenance of industrial equipment.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid, recognized first aid certificate.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver\'s Licence.
  • Current driver\'s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Knowledge of installation and maintenance of low voltage industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures including confined space and WHMIS.
  • Ability to work in areas with hazardous chemicals associated with a water treatment plant.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean work site.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
