What you\'ll doThe Political Science Department seeks applicants for a regular part-time instructor appointment (6 sections per year). The successful candidate will start on September 1, 2024.As a regular part-time faculty member, you will be expected to:

  • teach a variety of undergraduate political science courses
  • participate in curriculum development
  • contribute to the collegial functioning of the department, the School of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Arts & Sciences, and the University as a whole
CapU is currently undergoing an exciting phase of growth, with new BA and BSc programs being offered or under development across the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. In addition, the Faculty of Arts & Sciences\' academic model highlights regional and experiential-based learning, with opportunities for field-school courses, and connections to the sea-to-sky community.This faculty position will be located at the North Vancouver campus; however, teaching may include occasional teaching at the Squamish campus. The successful candidate will be expected to be an in-person instructor although online courses may be available in the future.
What you\'ll bring- PhD preferred; minimum Master\'s degree- specialization in Political Theory required- extensive experience teaching Introduction to Politics and Government required- experience teaching first- and second-year courses in Canadian Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory required- experience teaching third- and fourth-year courses in Canadian Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory required- experience teaching Research Methods an asset- experience teaching interdisciplinary courses an asset- evidence of and a continued commitment to teaching excellence- experience with demographically diverse classes and an ability to adapt to change- experience developing new courses and new curriculum initiatives (degrees, minors, etc.) an asset- experience serving on faculty committees an asset- experience supervising fourth-year graduating projects an asset- experience contributing to the intellectual life of a university (giving talks, etc.) an asset- a willingness to work in a highly collaborative environment involving colleagues in the Political Science Department, School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Arts and Sciences and beyondPosting Detail InformationInternal or External Position External

Salary Scale $9,420 per instructional section to a maximum of $14,391 per instructional section based on previous experience. Scale placement will be completed according to the Collective Agreement.
