Position Overview, Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking a part-time evening instructor for the CAEC program. The CAEC is a nationally recognized high school equivalancy credential and is awarded to adult learners who demonstrate a general high school competency in five subjects - reading, writing, math, science and social studies.
The CAEC instructor is responsible for the effective delivery of the CAEC curricula and for the evaluation and documentation of progress of learners.
Specifically, the Instructor will:
Design and deliver classroom instruction using CAEC provided content, lesson plans, discussions, printed materials, audio-visual presentations, field trips and hands on projects. Learning materials and lessons are designed to enable learners to meet the outcomes of the CAEC criteria outcomes.
Prepare learning plans for each learner, using his/her life experiences as materials for learning; accommodating different learning styles.
Assess learners and track their progress on an ongoing basis using a variety of assessment tools and strategies.
Maintain and update confidential classroom learner documents and ensure that they remain confidential.
Ensure classroom spaces are clean and safe for learners.
The instructor will work 5 hours per week over 2 evenings (4 hrs class + 1 hr prep)
The position is from September 2025 - June 2026, with option to renew annually.
