Job Summary

Our large oil and gas company in Calgary, AB is currently seeking an Instructional Designer (Change Management) for a 5-month contract.

In this role the candidate will have the opportunity to leverage their experience in instructional design and development to create appropriate training material and courses for information gathered during impact assessments and discussions with business unit and project team to facilitate seamless delivery for, technological and broader cultural transformation.

OCM plans will deliver communication and OCM activities, including training, targeted at individuals at all levels across downstream and throughout the organization. Effective execution requires the addition of contingent resources to assist the Transformation Office Manager and Communications Lead in the execution of the plan.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct a learning needs assessment (LNA) to determine learning requirements
  • Determine the appropriate training material format based on information gathered during the LNA, the OCM Impact Assessment and discussions with business and project team
  • Develop role-based learning curriculum and Determine learning objectives
  • Collaborate with SMEs and project team members to obtain training content in an organized and efficient manner
  • Design and develop instructor-led training material, quick reference guides and online help documents
  • Prepare paper-based material for printing and publishing
  • Design and publish online context-sensitive help documents
  • Design hands on exercises for system and tool training including creating data when required
  • Develop learning solutions beyond just instructor-led training (social learning, 1-1 coaching, OJT, etc.)
  • Build rapport and manage relationships with business SMEs and project team members
  • Adhere to a staged development process, obtaining required sign off at required stage gates in development
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the instructional design standards and development methodology
  • Champion and adhere to the naming standards, version control mechanisms and document management requirements for instructional materials
  • Support delivery of content
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalent
  • Experience creating instructional design documents for software, systems or applications
  • Experienced in the use of Visio
  • Expert knowledge in MSWord (knowledge of how to use styles and develop templates)
  • Attention to detail, ability to proofread and edit other\xe2\x80\x99s work
  • Knowledge of instructional design best practices and adult learning principles
  • Classroom facilitation experience
  • Understanding of how an LMS functions in an organization and experience working with LMS administrators to upload and deploy courses
  • Expertise in the use of SnagIt
  • Experienced in the use of SharePoint or other document repository systems and the rigor required for the management of instructional materials
  • 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in at least two of change management, communications, training, human resources, organizational psychology or organization effectiveness
  • Experience developing, delivering and coordinating system-related training
  • Experience related to the delivery of organizational change management programs/projects with a strong understanding of OCM methodology and tools typically leveraged in successful change programs
  • Ability to travel within Canada and US
  • Experience in Oil & Gas Operations, Information Services or Human Resources is an asset
  • Change Management Professional designation is an asset. (ACMP \xe2\x80\x93 CCMP; Prosci) is an asset
  • Experience in developing communications plans and collateral is an asset
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Possession of or eligible to obtain a passport
