The Team

The Innovation Advisor role is part of the Innovation Department. The Advisor reports to and works closely with the Director of Strategic Innovation and Legal Design and collaborates with the Innovation team, clients, strategic partners, industry groups, our practice groups, and business services departments.

Job Overview

The Innovation Advisor will support and assist in the coordination of projects of the Innovation Team involving technical consulting projects, document automation, contract lifecycle management, document and data review as well as tracking artificial intelligence tools. The Advisor will support practice-facing innovation projects involving the piloting and adoption of legal technologies as needed. The Advisor will also support the coordination of strategic partnerships with third parties to help enhance legal service delivery with skills and products from other domains useful to clients\' business. The Advisor will play a key role in organizing Innovation events from start to finish - coordinating with speakers, marketing to and assisting attendees and collecting actionable feedback from event participants. Finally, the Advisor will research potential client opportunities and facilitate touchpoints for the Innovation Team to showcase its offerings, collecting actionable client feedback.

You will be focusing on:

  • Provide project support for innovation initiatives involving document automation, document and data review, automation and internal build projects
  • Work alongside the Director of Strategic Innovation and Legal Design to develop relationships internally and externally with a focus on promoting the offerings of the Innovation Team
  • Help build key relationships with Legal Operations professionals employed in key companies
  • Coordinate and support industry and internal events that showcase the offerings of the Innovation Team
  • Facilitate touchpoints for Innovation Products
  • Research, evaluate and recommend market opportunities
  • Support strategic partnerships with 3rd parties designed to deliver value to clients through holistic, business-centred legal advice embedded into technical offerings and expertise of 3rd parties
  • Research opportunities to promote Innovation offerings at industry events
  • Work with key stakeholders to coordinate Design Thinking workshops to assist clients and internal groups
What you bring to the role:
  • Detail oriented, highly organized and dependable
  • Adept at exploring new possibilities and making recommendations
  • Highly organized with ability to manage events from start to finish
  • High capacity for change and adaptation
  • Autonomous with ability to balance various competing interests and multiple ongoing products
  • Excellent research skills
  • Experience in or knowledge of the legal industry with preference for experience in a large law firm setting
  • Technical and capability at document automation or other legal tech tools an asset
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Office and producing quality presentations, spreadsheets, slides
  • Ability to learn and use new software quickly
  • Sound judgment with respect to confidential and sensitive information
