To support our mission of a new kind of health care for a healthier community, and Trillium HealthWorks \xe2\x80\x93 THP\xe2\x80\x99s major health infrastructure renewal plan - THP is looking for a Senior Communications Advisor, Major Projects, to support initiatives across a diverse portfolio. These initiatives may include hospital planning, change management, community engagement, our organizational brand, strategic goals and priorities.

Reporting to the Manager, Major Projects Communications, the Senior Communications Advisor, Major Projects, is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of high quality, internal and external strategic communications programs in support of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s strategic goals and priorities. The Senior Communications Advisor is a creative and strategic individual who has a broad range of experience with writing, editing, issues management, community engagement, and digital media. The ideal candidate for this position will be an exceptional writer who can translate complex and technical information into clear and concise communications.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communications strategy development: Produce or oversee the development of communications materials including research, writing, editing, and creative conceptualization for various internal and external communications initiatives
  • Project management: Develop detailed tactical communications plans aligned with the overall requirements of various internal projects and initiatives
  • Strategic counsel: Provide strategic communications advice to internal clients to support the development of communication products
  • Community engagement: develop and execute detailed plans aligned with the overall strategy to engage with multiple stakeholders in the community
  • Issues management: Ability to manage risk and respond to emerging issues; participation in the communication on-call program
  • Digital strategy: Experience in understanding how to leverage digital technology solutions and incorporate digital, social and web strategies to support communications plans
JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Experience and Skills
  • University degree in communications, public relations or journalism
  • 5+ years of experience in communications and public affairs in progressively senior roles
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills - strong writing, editing and production skills - familiar with Canadian Press Style
  • Strong interpersonal and consulting skills; excellent customer relations and client management skills; ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Proven experience in working with complex communications structures and programs at multiple levels of an organization, with the ability to manage multiple clients
  • Creation and development of strategic communications documents, including communication plans, memos, key messages, letters, newsletters, media releases, briefing notes and backgrounders
  • Issues management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Results-oriented and client-focused with a commitment to excellence
  • Strong conceptual skills; systems thinking and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Knowledge of provincial governments, and Ministries of Health and Long-Term Care, is an asset
  • Understanding of the regional health care landscape is an asset
  • Experience working with leadership and executives
  • Experience in a health care environment is an asset
Position Location and Travel:

The successful candidate will be primarily based out of the Mississauga Hospital site and will be required to travel at times among the three main sites of THP \xe2\x80\x93 Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital and Queensway Health Centre.This position is currently remote with potential for a hybrid working model in the near future.
