Position: In-House Security (Part-time \xe2\x80\x93 32-36 hours per week) Department: Risk Management Reports to: Safety and Security Supervisor Starting date: ASAP Closing date: April 16, 2023 This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of all members of the School by providing a visible presence and conducting regular patrols throughout the School property. Responsibilities will include: \xe2\x97\x8f Capable of operating state-of-the-art CCVE systems. \xe2\x97\x8f Successfully conduct security patrols without direct supervision. \xe2\x97\x8f Ensure the safety of students, faculty, staff, and guests while protecting school property and assets. \xe2\x97\x8f Provide a visible presence on an ongoing basis by patrolling the interior and exterior of the school and property. \xe2\x97\x8f Monitor all areas (inside and outside) for unusual or suspicious individuals and hazardous or unsafe conditions. Able to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel. \xe2\x97\x8f Capable of effectively providing critical thinking and taking decisive actions in an emergency situation. \xe2\x97\x8f Able to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures. \xe2\x97\x8f Able to follow, and enforce safety codes, regulations, and procedures. \xe2\x97\x8f Capable of observing details and taking accurate notes under pressure. \xe2\x97\x8f Write comprehensive reports and maintain proper records using effective communication skills. \xe2\x97\x8f Available to work; mornings, daytime, evenings, on weekends, holidays and statutory holidays. \xe2\x97\x8f Provide support as necessary for the St. Georges\xe2\x80\x99 School Emergency plan including monthly monitoring of emergency equipment inventory at both sites. \xe2\x97\x8f Other duties as assigned. Qualifications will include: \xe2\x97\x8f Valid Basic Security Training Certification (BST). \xe2\x97\x8f Valid BC Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (minimum Class 5). Driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract will be required. \xe2\x97\x8f Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written communications. \xe2\x97\x8f Possess intermediate computer skills. \xe2\x97\x8f Well-groomed and capable of presenting a professional image to the public. \xe2\x97\x8f Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation. \xe2\x97\x8f Professional attitude and appearance, and a proven team player. \xe2\x97\x8f Analytical, observational, and organizational skills are a definite plus. \xe2\x97\x8f Minimum OFA 1 training required. Successful candidate will either possess a valid OFA 1 certificate or be willing to take a course to obtain certification to this standard. \xe2\x97\x8f Minimum two years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a Security position or Military experience. \xe2\x97\x8f Experience in a similar environment such (educational institution or in-house security), would be considered an asset. \xe2\x97\x8f Key competencies and EQ in the following areas: self-awareness, self-management, empathy, social expertness, initiative, and accountability.
