Job Description


Our Client is looking for a talented Technical Infrastructure Architect to join their team. They are looking for a person who has been on the Engineering side, working with DC\'s, Homeplace, Cloud and Security integrations, and recently have been working on Architecture.
You will play a critical part in projects and initiatives across the organization, helping the Organization modernize their platforms. You will drive those engagements acting as a technical lead in designing, planning, consulting to achieve exceptional solutions and supporting business objectives. Working collaboratively with multiple business units applying your expertise, you will help translate business demands, craft the technology landscape to enable business capabilities, transform technology advancement into business value, and make a profound impact on the growth of the business.

Working collaboratively to gain alignment from other architects, project management teams, business teams, and IT teams on solutions requires a balanced mix of technical, business, and communication skills and is the key to the success of this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and articulate solutions and design for projects to meet our Client\xe2\x80\x99s standards for technology and ensure they meet our ambitions efficiently for availability, security, resilience and performance
  • Produce design options with associated costs, benefits and risks to enable investment decisions
  • Engage with Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, Development and Infrastructure teams and other project colleagues to govern the competing perspectives between long-term and short-term goals
  • Represent solutions in technical reviews and discussions with client partners
  • Be responsible for the integrity of the end-to-end technical solution, including transition states used to achieve the target state
  • Shape and estimate IT initiatives and feature team sprints, ensuring that component parts deliver against business outcomes
  • Provide leadership on key designs to ensure long term strategic goals of IT are met, as well as short-term project needs
  • Ensure you produce artifacts to support the stakeholder group for service, security, architecture and engineering
  • Define the security controls for a variety of cloud and on-prem workloads, by closely working with our Information Security team
  • Peer review the artifacts of others - provide mentoring and training to less experienced team members as required
  • Contribute to the Infrastructure Architecture practice across all internal Groups, leading or participating in initiatives to improve the approach to craft
  • Develop your own technical skills to support our Client\xe2\x80\x99s journey and our appetite to take advantage of emerging technologies and trends
  • Recommend design solutions or ideas in response to challenges faced by your project or feature team in relation to policy, process and other guidelines
Skills & Qualifications:
  • University Degree in either Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience with design and implementation of architecture solutions.
  • Experience of solution architecture and architecture methodologies e.g. TOGAF
  • Financial acuity to support development of business cases and to inform on key design decisions
  • Experience with applications required to detail and deliver solution proposals and documentation (PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end project lifecycle methodologies (mainly agile)
  • Agile (Scrum or Kanban) experience including use of Jira
  • Able to balance strategic direction and vital short-term goals
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent partner and relationship management
  • Experience with server hardware and operating systems (Windows, Linux or Unix)
  • Experience with Virtualization technologies and infrastructure (VMWare, Hyper-V, etc)
  • Expertise with various clustering technologies and high-availability solutions at network, host and application level.
  • Experience with one or more Cloud Infrastructures (AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure)
  • Understanding of up-to-date Network architecture concepts and system integration principles including routers / switches, Network & Security,
  • Experience with database engines (Oracle, MS SQL Server, Maria, MySQL, etc.)
  • Applied knowledge of middleware and integration technologies (IBM WAS/IHS, JBoss, Tomcat, DataPower, etc.)
  • Experience with key security design constructs, principles, platforms and services (Firewalls, IDS/IPS, security zoning, etc.)
  • Expertise in various storage technologies and platforms \xe2\x80\x93 SAN, NAS, Object, Archival and Data Protection.
  • Expertise with assessing and defining resiliency, high-availability and disaster recovery capabilities at application, system and/or infrastructure level.
Nice-to-have
  • Call Centre solutions experience
  • Working knowledge of application containerization technologies (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
