The Health Services I&IT Cluster's Emergency Health I&IT Solutions & Technology Management Branch is seeking a skilled professional to help shape and support critical telecommunications and radio systems. In this high-impact environment, your expertise will contribute directly to the modernization and reliability of the systems that keep Ontario's emergency health services connected and responsive.

As part of our team, you will:
analyze, design, implement and measure the performance of a wide and varied range of integrated network facilities, including mission-critical voice, data, radio, satellite and information technology for Central Ambulance Communications Centres (CACC) throughout the province
provide both on-site and remote technical support for hardware and software, including desktops, servers, mobile and vehicle devices, and other networked systems
ensure optimal service delivery and support for IT and telecommunications systems in ambulance dispatch centers and other locations
lead the resolution of technical incidents and problems, offering expert guidance and working closely with vendors and internal teams
provide senior-level support and guidance on telecommunications and IT solutions to various stakeholders
provide hands-on operational support, including Tier 2 and 3 technical support, and manage critical implementations
develop and monitor systems to track performance of integrated voice, data, and radio systems, and provide training to staff
conduct regional seminars and help configure software-driven communication systems
implement effective system change control and provide site-specific consulting services
collaborate with other branches and vendors to resolve issues and keep technical documentation and knowledge databases up to date

Mandatory requirements
You have:
a valid class G driver's licence
basic CPR Certification, first aid, and radio operation or ability to obtain such certification
the ability to extensively travel throughout the assigned area, with occasional multi-day trips to rural and remote radio tower sites, hospitals and ambulance bases in areas not serviced by public or commercial transportation

Technical expertise and knowledge
You have:
experience working with communication technologies such as Avaya Aura R10, analog trunking, Avaya gateways, data networks, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), Session Boarder Controller (SBC), and satellite telecommunications
knowledge of current desktop operating systems, including Windows 10 and 11
knowledge of current and emerging telecommunications systems technologies, including voice, data, satellite, information technology and radio used in CACCs
the ability to provide expert advice, troubleshooting, and support
knowledge of desktop hardware components, including processors, motherboards, BIOS, memory, network cards, media devices, interfaces, printers, and other peripherals
knowledge of server operating system configurations and services, and domain architectures including Windows Internet Name Service (WINS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Remote Access Services (RAS), IP addressing, networking addresses, printer queues, and naming conventions

Analytical, organizational, and coordination skills
You can:
assess technical issues, perform cost-benefit analyses, and develop effective solutions
coordinate installations and technical support carried out by vendors
lead regional seminars on communications subjects for Emergency Health Services personnel

You can:
deliver training, write clear reports and instructions, create training materials, and communicate effectively with both internal teams and external partners
support colleagues, peers, stakeholders, management, and end users by identifying technology solutions that improve day-to-day work and business processes

an understanding of project management principles to help plan, coordinate, and deliver work efficiently
