About us:
At Myant, we are creating the world\xe2\x80\x99s first textile computing platform, integrating technology directly into the only thing we\xe2\x80\x99ve been wearing our entire life \xe2\x80\x93 clothing. SKIIN is our first consumer facing brand, and SKIIN\xe2\x80\x99s vision is to enhance human ability through connected clothing - think Ironman\xe2\x80\x99s suit, but comfortable. The sensors and actuators embedded within our apparel create your Digital Identity, which will be consumed by those who matter to you - your family members, doctors, coaches, other IoT devices - without you consciously having to think about it. Imagine a world where you walk into your house and the temperature automatically adjusts to your optimal body temperature, the lights adjust to your mood, or your doctor is aware of the onset of a disease before you even visit. The line between the digital and physical world is becoming increasingly blurry, and we believe textile is the next medium to bridge that gap.
We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for people who believe in our mission to make wearable technology truly ubiquitous and convenient, so that everyone can benefit from it. We are a cross-functional team solving big challenges at the intersection of fashion, electronics, software, and data science.
The Role:
The Krembil Research Institute is associated with the Toronto Western Hospital and is one of the largest research institutes in Canada focusing on human neurological diseases from a basic science and clinical research perspective. The University Health Network, Canada\xe2\x80\x99s largest academic hospital network has a strong interdisciplinary research program in vision, spinal cord, regenerative neuroscience and arthritis.
The Neural Systems & Brain Signal Processing Lab (PI: Dr. Milad Lankarany) focuses on the development of computational models and techniques to infer bio-information (e.g., information processing mechanisms of the neural systems) from sparse observations (e.g., electrophysiological recordings). Additional details are available at https://sites.google.com/view/lnsbsp/home.
The main goal of this collaboration between Myant Inc and Neural Systems & Brain Signal Processing Lab is to develop advanced signal processing and machine learning algorithms for extracting bio-information from the body using textile sensors, e.g., Blood Pressure, EMG, ECG and EEG, and integrate the inferred information with the human behavioral status, e.g., stress, anxiety, sleep apnea, etc. Our ultimate objective is to develop neuro-technology to optimally control human behaviors, particularly those related to the neurological disorders.
The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Electrical/Computer/Biomedical Engineering with a strong experience in Data Science and Bio-Signal Processing. As well, strong quantitative background (ideally in the field of Applied Mathematic) is a plus. The position is funded for one year with possibility of extension.
