Meat cutter/Butcher uses stunning devices, saws, slicers, knives and power cutters to section whole carcasses or large pieces of meat into the smaller primal cuts, more familiar ones we bring home to prepare. Meat cutter works with potentially dangerous tools and are often required to spend time in cold, damp environments.

Skin, clean and trim carcasses using hand tools and power equipment
Remove viscera and other inedible parts from carcasses
Split carcasses into smaller portions to facilitate handling
Cut beef or sides or quarters of carcasses into primal cuts for further cutting, processing or packaging
Remove bones from meat and cut meat into specific portions for institutional, commercial and other wholesale use.
Remove skin, excess fat or other blemishes from carcasses or meat portions.
Clean work area and equipment
Operate plant equipment in a safe manner
Maintain plant's high standards for product guidelines in sanitation, freshness, trim and cutting
Perform other duties as assigned
:
High school diploma
Vocational training /Certificate on meat cutting
6 months to 1 year previous meat cutting experience in a processing plant
Superb knife skills
Knowledge of plant and equipment operations
Ability to read, write and follow instructions
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to work in a team based environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work in Canada for any employer
Available for weekend overtime as production demands require
