At ATB, we exist to make it possible for our clients, team members and communities. Our purpose is more than aspirational. It's a real commitment we live every day through our values (what we call the ATB ID).
Life at ATB is about more than work. In fact, we're consistently recognized as one of Canada's top employers thanks to our high-care, high-performance culture, upheld by the three commitments we make to our team members:
Impact in action: No matter where you are in the organization, you're empowered to make an impact in the lives of our clients and communities.
Thrive together: We want you--the unique, authentic you--to feel safe and celebrated at work. We're on a continuous journey to build the most flexible and inclusive programs.
Ready for tomorrow: We want to enable your success through interesting and challenging work, performance enablement, and learning and development.
About the role
ATB is committed to honoring the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's (TRC) Call to Action #92. This Call to Action is directed towards the corporate sector and calls upon this sector to adopt and apply the United Declaration of Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) as a reconciliation framework to core policies and operational activities involving Indigenous peoples, and their lands and resources.
Indigenous Peoples and communities have existed and thrived on Turtle Island long before any financial institution made its way into society through colonization. ATB understands and respects traditional values, cultural perspectives and diversity across Indigenous Peoples in Alberta and within our business.
While listening and learning, we have been taking action to fulfill our role in Truth and Reconciliation efforts. ATB is actively building reciprocal and respectful relationships with Indigenous Peoples, communities and organizations by being accountable, having integrity and taking initiative in uplifting legacies and livelihoods.
We are committed to:
• Implement an integrative, enterprise-wide approach to foster meaningful relationships, supported by leadership, community engagement and community support.
• Use our power and influence to bridge the gap for equitable access to capital, provide client solutions and meet the needs of Indigenous Peoples, communities and organizations.
• Advance a truth-based approach through education and experiences, which will integrate Indigenous cultural worldviews into our workplace and support Reconciliation.
• Positively impact the Indigenous economy through an increase in representation of Indigenous suppliers in ATB's procurement processes.
• Be the employer of choice for Indigenous Peoples, with a workforce that is representative of the Indigenous communities that we serve.
As we engage with Indigenous Peoples, communities and organizations we are committed to ongoing listening and learning. As often as necessary, we will make changes to our approach and our plans with advancing Truth and Reconciliation to center the voices of Rights holders in Alberta.
As part of the Central Underwriting Team, the Indigenous Summer Internship - Central Underwriting Student (ATB 101) will have the opportunity to learn the skill of underwriting Agriculture & Business credit. Underwriters are credit solution experts, have a solid understanding of ATBs risk appetite and provide the advice necessary to help our business clients be successful. The ideal candidate will possess an inquisitive & growth mindset, a business aptitude with a Customer Obsessed philosophy and thrive in a virtual work environment.

If you believe your skills and experience align with the role--but you might not check all the boxes--we want to hear from you. We encourage candidates from all work backgrounds, equity-seeking communities and experience levels to apply. If you're seeking a career where your drive, perspective and growth are celebrated, we want to hear from you.
