Job Description

Soogadin, a partnership between Brock Canada and Fort Mckay First Nation has a goal of becoming the largest Indigenous scaffolding company in Canada. The Indigenous Recruitment Lead supports building an inclusive and barrier-free staffing process to hire Indigenous peoples. Reporting to the Sr. Human Resource Business Partner, the role will be responsible for leading all Indigenous recruitment strategies, as well as onboarding into the company. In this role they will shape and build a robust Indigenous recruitment strategy, and maintain positive and active partnerships with Indigenous communities and organizations. This role will also work internally with Soogadin staff to build culturally safe and inclusive practices within the organization to increase retention of Indigenous staff.



The Indigenous Recruitment Lead can expect to spend their time between the Soogadin offices located in Fort McMurray and Edmonton and travel to Indigenous communities, schools, and community events.



Primary Duties :


Provide specialized level full cycle recruitment services Work closely and collaboratively with the HR team to understand current and future hiring needs and to develop and execute recruitment plans Acts as the prime subject matter expert on Indigenous talent acquisition best practices, strategies and execution. Responsible for sourcing, advertising, screening, interviewing and assessing Indigenous talent. Support Indigenous employment branding initiatives and innovative recruitment projects. Develop strategies to target and attract Indigenous candidates using a variety of tools and techniques including personal networks, third party job boards, industry events, educational institutions. Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting, build Indigenous engagement, networks and develop a pool of qualified candidates in advance of needs; Ensure all marketing materials are inclusive and culturally safe for Indigenous applicants and employees. Provide direction on Indigenous recruitment issues and establish career paths for future opportunities. Participate in career fairs and other recruitment related events. Utilize multiple resources including internet, intranet, career fairs, open houses, direct sourcing, networking, educational institutes, and affiliated association to source for potential candidates. * Other duties as may be assigned.
