Salary (2025 - Grid 7 rate): $33.48 - $39.88/hr.

Position Summary:





Reporting directly to the Child Care Coordinator, and indirectly to the Manager, Children's Services, the Special Needs Resourcing (SNR) Inclusion Consultant will be responsible for supporting the inclusion of children with special needs in the licensed childcare and early years system.



Responsibilities include the provision of information, resources, training, support, strategies, and coaching to licensed childcare and early years' system staff based on on-site observations in the program setting.


Qualifications:




Education, Certification and Licenses




Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) designation required. Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators. Resource Teacher certificate/diploma considered an asset. Courses/training in adult learning principles is considered an asset. Additional training/education in children's mental health and ASD would be considered an asset. Ability to communicate in both official languages is considered an asset. Valid Class G driver's license and access to a vehicle is required.

Experience




Minimum two years' experience working in the children's services sector with families/caregivers and children. Demonstrated knowledge and experience of principles and best practices for the inclusion of children in a licensed childcare and early years setting is required. Experience working in licensed childcare as well as a knowledge and understanding of the licensed childcare and early years system preferred. Experience researching, designing and delivering training, and providing coaching/consultative services to other professionals would be considered an asset. Experience working with diverse cultures and ethnicities

Knowledge




French language; spoken and written preferred. Extensive knowledge of child development theory and strategies to promote and enhance health child development of children, birth to 12 years of age. Computer literate in Microsoft Office technologies including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

A professional philosophy that is rooted in building the capacity of others, teamwork, and collaboration. Demonstrated ability to meet competing demands and determine priorities. Ability to work independently and within a team-delivered organizational model. Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings, early mornings and weekends depending upon the needs of the system. Must be willing to travel to locations within the geographic area of the Leeds and Grenville.

Position Responsibilities:




Activity 1 Child Care System Service and Support (50%)



Take an active role in childcare and early years programs demonstrating inclusion strategies and/or providing coaching support for staff. Provide support to licensed childcare and early years programs to implement planning goals, strategies and activities as identified in the Individual Service Plan (ISP). Assist licensed childcare and early years program staff in the development of environmental strategies conducive to optimal development and inclusion of children. Work alongside childcare and early years staff to assess a child's developmental needs using a variety of screening and assessment tools. Make recommendations about and provide supportive/adaptive equipment and materials that would facilitate inclusion in the childcare and early years program setting. Ensure ongoing work with the childcare and early years system staff, sector stakeholders and fellow staff is conducted in a manner that is respectful, empowering, and demonstrates a positive customer service philosophy. Consult with relevant agencies/service providers as required to inform work with childcare and early years staff.

Activity 2 Planning, Research, Development and Training (35%)




Research and provide information and resource materials for licensed childcare and early years staff as necessary and appropriate. Utilize a variety of methodologies to facilitate skill development of licensed childcare and early years program staff. Develop and implement training and educational opportunities for staff working in the licensed childcare and early years system. Maintain knowledge of new research, resources, and best practices as it relates to inclusion, early childhood development, early childhood education and adult learning principles. Remain current and provide information about community services, supports, resources, and programs that are available. Recommend program and policy change to improve the childcare and early years system management.

Activity 3 Other (15%)




Participate in committees, working groups and team meetings as required and approved by the Child Care Coordinator, Children's Services. Participating in consultative meetings with childcare staff, parents and other community members. Monitor the use of supplies and specialized equipment. Maintain a high level of computer proficiency for Microsoft Office.
