Pathways Health Centre for Children is a charitable not-for-profit family-centred community agency serving children and youth with physical, developmental and communication needs. Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025, the Centre provides a full range of pediatric rehabilitation and support services, largely funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. In addition, Pathways offers a therapeutic pool, open to people of all ages and abilities in the community and has a licensed, integrated childcare service on site (C.A.C.H.E.).

We are currently recruiting a replacement for a permanent (28 hours per week):

Inclusion Assistant



Under the direction of the Inclusion Consultant and the Supervisor of Special Needs Resource Services, the Inclusion Assistant will provide service and support to clients of Pathways Health Centre for Children, licensed child care centres, schools and local Indigenous communities, through the use of intervention strategies to promote developmentally appropriate behaviour, activities, and social skills of the child/youth. The position will support before and after school programs in licensed child care and schools starting as early as 7 am and finishing as late as 6 pm (alternating days).

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:



Required education level is completion of a two-year community college program and a post graduate program ie Autism and Behaviour Science Certificate preferred Demonstrated knowledge of current behaviourmanagement approaches with children and youth with autism Experience and knowledge working with children and youth with special needs in licensed childcare or schools an asset Experience working with children with autism and their families Awareness of trauma informed care and/or mental health issues in children and youth is an asset Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of community partners and resources for families in Sarnia-Lambton Fluency in French and Cultural Competency training an asset
The successful candidate must have a valid Ontario driver's license and maintain adequate liability insurance or must have ongoing access to a vehicle and driver for Pathways business. A Vulnerable Sector Police Check is also required along with proof of applicable vaccinations/immunizations.
