Job Description

Merrickville Day Nursery School is a licensed not for profit childcare center committed to providing high-quality, inclusive, and nurturing early learning experiences for children. We support children's development through play-based learning and strong family and community partnerships. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Childcare Center Supervisor to lead our team and ensure our programs meet or exceed regulatory and developmental standards.

Position Summary:



The Childcare Center Supervisor is responsible for day to day operations of the childcare center, including staff supervision, compliance with licensing regulations, curriculum oversight, communication, leadership, organizational skills, and a genuine passion for early childhood education.

Key Responsibilities:



Oversee and coordinate the daily operation of the childcare center. Ensure compliance with all applicable childcare licensing regulations and health & safety standards. Supervise, support, and evaluate childcare staff; provide ongoing professional development and coaching. Collaborate with families and staff to build positive relationships and support children's individual needs. Develop, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate programs and activities. Maintain accurate records including attendance, incident reports, staff documentation, and licensing files. Manage scheduling, staff ratios, and ensure proper coverage at all times. Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for children, families, and staff. Liaise with licensing authorities and other community stakeholders as needed. Work with the bookkeeper to manage the center's budget, as well as be responsible for the purchasing, and inventory of supplies and equipment. Work with the Inclusion Consultant and Program Consultant to ensure high quality programming Manage the childcare waiting list, connecting with families when vacancies occur and schedule tours and transitions for children beginning care Schedule and conduct regular staff meetings Attend monthly supervisor meetings and board meetings Meet regularly with the bookkeeper to discuss financials Complete any required items from the United Counties by the deadlines (reconciliations, budgets, expressions of interest, attendance reports, subsidy reports) Conduct monthly fire drills and fire safety inspections Invoicing, recording and collection of payments Interviewing, hiring and onboarding of new employees Planning of fundraising and special events for the center Ensure repairs and maintenance are scheduled

Qualifications:



Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma or Degree (equal or similar qualifications will be considered) Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE) if applicable Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a licensed childcare setting (or similar setting), with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role in the childcare field (preferably licensed care) is strongly preferred Valid First Aid and CPR Level C certification. Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain). Must not be older than 6 months. Up-to-date immunization and health records as required by licensing regulations. Strong knowledge of child development theories, curriculum planning, and behavior guidance strategies. Familiarity with creating and maintaining ISP's Familiarity with CWELCC (Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care) Excellent communication (Verbal and written), leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Conflict resolution skills Knowledge of HDLH? (How Does Learning Happen?), CCEYA (Child Care and Early Years Act), ELECT (Early Learning for Every Child Today) preferred Experience working with children with diverse needs considered an asset Familiarity with Licensed Childcare (Ministry of Education) policies and regulations a must Knowledge of Local Health Unit guidelines considered an asset Knowledge of subsidized childcare
