OVERVIEW
Jamii is currently seeking a dynamic and passionate Implementer to join its team of leaders and community champions. At its heart, an Implementer\xe2\x80\x99s mission is to produce happenings (defined as a wide range of events, creative projects, and workshops) that connect audiences to artistic experiences. This can include planning and producing a one-off workshop for families at the Jamii Hub to producing a 5-day festival in David Crombie Park. What is essential in this role is having the care and passion to offer people in the community professionally executed, memorable artistic experiences, that involve fellow neighbours, and enhance the sense of togetherness within the community.
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of producing Jamii\xe2\x80\x99s programming, this includes: aspects of Project/Event Management, Outreach and Coordination, Logistics and Production, and Administrative Management.

The Implementer reports directly to Jamii\xe2\x80\x99s Alchemist (Executive and Artistic Director) and works in collaboration with the whole team at Jamii.

This is a one year full-time contract.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

EVENTS & PROJECTS MANAGEMENT:

  • GOAL: Execute Jamii\xe2\x80\x99s programming vision (workshops, creative projects and events - at the Jamii Hub and in David Crombie Park). The Implementer puts ideas and strategies into action.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Acquire a clear understanding of each aspect of Jamii\xe2\x80\x99s programming, develop and execute a management plan that includes timelines and deadlines, communications, production schedule, coordination, logistics and production, artist liaison, and management. Responsibilities also include aspects of administrative management (contracts, invoicing and payments) as well as event reporting (compile final reports for funders), sourcing vendors, managing volunteers and developing the Ambassadors\xe2\x80\x99 programme. The Implementer will secure event team, delegate tasks, and supervise.
  • EXECUTION: The Implementer will create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone attending and participating. The Implementer will steward Jamii\xe2\x80\x99s partnerships and relationships. The Implementer will ensure happenings are professionally executed with high quality and within allocated budgets.
AUDIENCE & PARTICIPANTS:
  • GOAL: Ensure participation and audience goals are reached for projects and events.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Execute marketing strategies; Support Jamii\xe2\x80\x99s Amplifier with all promotion and marketing efforts (including content creation for social media, event online posting); Take on the responsibility of community outreach and engagement; Nurture existing relations and expands Jamii\xe2\x80\x99s reach within the community.
The responsibilities listed above only address key duties of this position: additional related tasks may be assigned at the discretion of Jamii\xe2\x80\x99s Alchemist.

HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week (7.5hrs/day plus a 30min lunch break)
  • This position is 100% in-person, at the office: 264 The Esplanade, Toronto ON.
  • Office hours: Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm
  • Hours for happenings: There will be requirements to work flextime with evening and weekend work, as the position demands: most of Jamii happenings (events, workshops, creative projects) are in the evening and on the weekends and the Implementer needs to attend said events. Jamii has a policy for overtime that can be claimed as time-in-lieu.
  • The schedule is to be determined on a monthly basis, based on Jamii\xe2\x80\x99s programming, and with direct Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
  • Relevant bachelor\'s degree or higher, or equivalent demonstrated knowledge.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Has knowledge of Toronto\xe2\x80\x99s performing arts scene and a passion for community;
  • Proven experience planning and implementing a project or program from start to finish, which achieved intended outcomes.
  • Is skilled in project planning, event management, and responsible, organized, detail-oriented;
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and intercultural competency;
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders;
  • Committed to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Competency with computer software including Teams and Excel

  • Enjoy all art forms and have some artistic experience.
  • Facilitation experience, in particular with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to capture photos and videos to support program promotion and reporting.
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization.
