Install ice at the beginning of season with the help of LSA.
Close and secure Sport Centre each day at 11:00 pm -12:00Am or earlier depending on rentals.
Daily air quality testing and reporting weekly to the office using forms provided.
Clean ice and general ice maintenance to ensure ice is maintained. Operation of an edging machine, zamboni, and ice maintenance hand tools.
Inspection of the arena after rentals to ensure no damages.
Clean the arena including the lobby, bathrooms, seating area, and dressing rooms. Includes garbage removal, sweeping, mopping and cleaning of rink boards and viewing glass.
Oversee public use of the facility and ensure no vandalism and proper conduct while at the facility.
Perform minor maintenance and repair of arena equipment which includes changing resurfacer blades.
Basic computer operation competency required for assigning dressing rooms, and looking up
WHMIS information.
Snow removal from all doors, exits and front door asphalt area as required
Perform minor maintenance building as required - (lobby, zamboni room, dressing rooms, arena).
Includes, changing bulbs, fixing doors, patching holes and painting, cleaning any graffiti, minor plumbing repairs on sinks, toilets, showers, other maintenance as required.
Duties may be modified as required.
Requirements
Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in ice-making.
Operators Course Level 1 required or to be completed by Dec 31,2022. Paid for by LSA.
Operator Level 2 course will be considered an asset to maintain the ice plant.
Knowledge of and ability to resurface ice, change blades and maintain resurfacer, (Zamboni).
Knowledge and understanding of safety (OHSA and WHMIS).
Possess standard first aid and CPR courses, or willing to obtain it within first 30 days of employment.
Skills to use a variety of tools and equipment such as power tools, hand tools, shovels, brooms etc.
Ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled building maintenance, and minor tasks and to perform routine janitorial duties.
Ability to enforce rules and regulations governing the operation of the arena during public sessions, user groups and adult groups.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff and the public.
Ability to deal tactfully and firmly with groups and individuals to ensure observance of facility rules, regulations, and schedules.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and action in accordance with established practices and procedures.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to provide an acceptable criminal record check, vulnerable check and drivers abstract.
Demonstrate a positive attitude
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
Strong work ethics and able to execute on tasks up to the expected standards set by the LSA.
