TD Asset Management (TDAM), a member of TD Bank Financial Group, is a leading North American investment manager offering progressive investment solutions to both institutional and individual investors. TDAM's Advisor Distribution team offers a range of mutual funds and managed portfolios through a national sales and service team of over 100 people. The sales team is responsible for selling TD Mutual Funds & ETFs through external advisors (Brokers and Planners), contributing to TD MF assets of over $164 Billion.


The Hybrid Virtual Wholesaler is responsible for selling and representing TD Mutual Funds to TD Waterhouse, other bank-owned brokerage firms, independent companies and financial planning firms. The Hybrid Virtual Wholesaler is responsible for maximizing sales of TD Mutual Funds to Investment Advisors and Financial Planners in an assigned territory.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the investment, business development and service needs of clients and prospects by maintaining regular contact with them in both business and social interaction
  • Ensure full knowledge of most current fund and market trends including – product/portfolio features, benefits, sales tools/processes, and investment strategies.
  • Build client relationships with prospective, existing and dormant accounts, primarily over the telephone (Virtually) to generate new business through proactive contacts and regular follow-ups.
  • Influence advisors to increase their support of TD Mutual Funds products and services by demonstrating an understanding of their business, providing well thought-out product solutions that appropriately meet their needs, and constructive marketing advice
  • Work with entire sales team to deliver strategic activity at all levels – at the advisor, segmentation, territory, calendar and events level.
  • Be a solution provider to advisors by asking great questions to uncover a need and then present a compelling product solution
  • Deliver solution information, Portfolio Manager insights, macro-economic guidance and practice management advice.
  • Use advisor data to develop annual territory sales plan identifying: frequency of contact, high impact advisor activities, key product opportunities and key corporate messages for each client based on current advisor coverage model
  • Conduct weekly team meetings with Business Development Associates to review progress against business plan
  • Uphold Corporate and Industry sales practices, assess and manage (i.e. monitor commitment) opportunities for co-op marketing from both a business and National Instrument 81-105 perspective taking ownership over the co-op process from start to finish through written communication with Investment Advisors.

  • University Degree
  • CSC/IFIC
  • Strong Financial acumen - Preference given to financial designations (CFA, CFP, CIM)
  • Previous experience working with Investment Advisors (Brokers/Planners) and detailed knowledge of their business practices.
  • Genuine interest/curiosity about capital markets and finance, driven to continually self-learn.
  • In-depth knowledge of the structure and features of mutual funds and the competitive landscape of the industry. Prior experience in industry an asset.
  • Proven ability to prospect and build relationships.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively within a close team environment, excellent attitude and receptivity to coaching.
