Human Resources Lead

As a strategic partner within the organization, the Human Resources Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping and supporting a thriving workplace culture at Women Building Futures. Reporting to the Director, People and Culture, this position serves as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert across all HR functions, including recruitment, professional development, performance management, and organizational planning. With a strong focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and Indigenous relations, the HR Lead ensures that HR practices align with WBF's mission and values, while fostering employee engagement, growth, and operational excellence.




Work Setting and Location

- WBF utilizes an agile work model that involves both in person work and work from home components.




Key Responsibilities



Recruitment and Selection




Manage full-cycle recruitment and continuously improve hiring practices to meet organizational needs. Collaborate with leaders to attract top talent, support job postings, interviews, and compensation decisions. Facilitate onboarding through the HRIS system and lead HR orientation sessions. Conduct 3-month check-ins with new hires and ensure hiring practices align with DEI and Indigenous Relations/Reconciliation goals.



Professional Development




Develop and implement annual organization - wide professional development plans. Lead monthly meetings with Training Leads to align initiatives and optimize scheduling. Support employee training opportunities and coordinate government grant applications.



Organizational Development




Foster a positive workplace culture through relationship-building and trust. Lead planning for the annual employee conference Facilitate exit interviews and share insights to inform retention strategies. Provide HR guidance across committees to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Conduct organizational surveys.



Job Evaluation, Salary Administration and Compensation




Maintain accurate job descriptions, salary records, and support classification processes. Conduct market salary scans Administer employee benefits. Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate compensation and benefits management.



Performance Management




Lead the implementation and enhancement of performance management systems. Support leaders with performance reviews, goal setting, and development planning. Deliver training on feedback, coaching, and performance improvement plans. Assist with succession planning and competency development.

Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution




Act as a trusted advisor in resolving workplace conflicts and promoting respectful communication. Guide leaders through sensitive employee relations issues and ensure policy compliance Facilitate Respect in the Workplace training and support performance improvement planning.

Planning and Compliance




Co-develop the annual HR business plan with the Director, People and Culture. Monitor employee morale and implement engagement strategies. Maintain and update HR policies and procedures, ensuring legislative compliance. Co-lead the Human Resources Advisory Committee.

Records Management




Ensure accurate and confidential management of personnel files and HR documentation.

Prepare reports as needed and maintain

high standards of data integrity.

Skilled in coaching employees toward success and growth. Solid understanding of HR functions with the agility to adapt to WBF's unique structures. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proficient in using HRIS platforms and maintaining
accurate records.
Confident facilitator with the ability to lead conversations and support decision-making across teams and departments.



Education & Experience

5+ years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist, including full-cycle recruitment and leading organization-wide training and development programs Post Secondary education, with a focus on business or Human Resources. CPHR designation achieved or in progress Familiarity with employment legislation, DEI practices, and Indigenous relations is highly valued.
