Job Description


Human Resources

  • Developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with EDC\'s Strategic Plan and commitment to JEDI principles
  • Bridging management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process including creating job descriptions/postings, advertising the roles, screening candidates, conducting interviews, carrying out assessments and selecting the successful candidate
  • Manage new staff onboarding process
  • Support EDC\'s current and future needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of our team members
  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization
  • Nurture a positive and inclusive working environment
  • Assist Management with performance appraisal system
  • Maintain and manage the benefits program
  • Assist Managing Director with training needs for the organization and with respect to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) objectives
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management
  • Work in conjunction with the management team in activities that can boost employee morale
  • Solidify Health and Safety Policies
Operations
  • Maintain organizations stationary supply as well as coffee and snack supplies
  • Maintain EDC\'s suppliers list and add or replace vendors as needed keeping in mind environmental and social justice factors
  • Manage rental agreements for the Toronto and Ottawa offices, working closely with Managing Director
  • Work in conjunction with the finance to assess opportunities to optimize the operations cost
  • Review existing organization\'s policies on an annual basis to ensure they are updated and relevant
  • Manage, review and update EDC\'s digital records management
  • Manage external contacts as required by the management team
  • Source contractors for building maintenance
  • Manage key box and keys for the company
  • Manage rentals and purchases for the office
Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years\' experience in human resources and operations.
  • University degree or college diploma in Human Resources, or a relevant field required.
  • Professional certification in CHRP/CHRL, or working towards certification, preferred
  • HR and operations experience in the non-profit sector is an asset.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases, HUMI preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
  • Experience creating and maintaining a records management system is an asset
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Detailed oriented, multi-task oriented, professional, and self-motivated.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to multi-task and meet or exceed all deadlines.
  • Proactive problem recognition and solution.
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization
