About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative HR Generalist to join our team on an 18-month contract basis. This is a pivotal role designed to support our employees and frontline supervisors in a variety of HR functions, with a strong focus on employee relations, workplace investigations, training and development, implementation of HR programs and full-cycle recruitment. This position encompasses a wide range of core human resources functions. These duties support both strategic and day-to-day operations within an organization, and must comply with Ontario's employment laws, human rights legislation, and, where applicable, collective agreements in unionized environments. Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day guidance and support to employees and supervisors on HR policies, employee relations issues, and performance management.
Conduct or support workplace investigations, accommodations in compliance with applicable legislation and collective agreements.
Coordinate employee incident reporting processes and ensure the WSIB reporting requirement, if applicable, within the WSIB deadline.
Monitor/track employee leaves and assist with modified work plans and return-to-work processes.
Coordinate and facilitate training and professional development programs aligned with organizational needs.
Lead and manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding/off-boarding.
Foster strong, collaborative relationships with frontline supervisors to ensure effective HR service delivery.
Participate in employee engagement initiatives, surveys, and recognition programs.
Support the implementation and compliance of HR initiatives and organizational policies.
Maintain accurate and confidential HR records and documentation.
Update an organizational chart and generate HR reports as needed.
Act as backup for payroll processing and administration as needed.
Participate in special HR projects and organizational development initiatives as assigned.
Other duties to perform as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.
CHRP designation in good standing is required.
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, including work in a unionized environment.
Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation, human rights, and health & safety regulations.
Proven experience handling employee relations and investigations with sensitivity and discretion.
Skilled in recruitment, training development, and policy and collective agreement interpretation and implementation.
Payroll experience is an asset; must be able to serve as a backup for payroll as needed.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
Highly organized, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms (e.g. Dayforce, ADP, Workday, etc.).
