Your role

Based in Yellowknife, you will have an opportunity to join a dynamic team in a fast paced and challenging environment.

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will be responsible for working with the HR team to provide the full range of Human Resources consultative services.

In your role, your ability to work independently, communicate effectively and see the big picture is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • First point of contact for HR support from clients and employees in the North (Yellowknife, Whitehorse, Iqaluit)
  • Partner with our Centre of Excellence to assist with answering benefit and payroll related questions (isolated living allowance, paid leave travel assistance, benefit coverage)
  • Coordinate training and information sessions
  • Prepare offer letters in consultation with the business, HR and Talent Acquisition
  • Audit HR transaction forms to confirm accuracy
  • Track and maintain HR information for the region (vacancies, leave of absences, sick time etc.)
  • Day to day HR activities and administrative tasks
  • Assist with special projects
  • Ability to effectively interpret collective agreements and corporate policies, procedures and reports.
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

College diploma or university degree with courses in Human Resources/Industrial Relations. Interested in or pursuing a CHRP designation.

At least 1-3 years' experience in the Human Resources field.

Capability to support various administrative functions such as generating reports, submitting approvals, and assisting in day-to-day HR needs.

Ability to provide administrative support to local and national committees.

Strong client focus with the ability to provide HR support to at least one client group.

Strong, dynamic communication skills.

Creative approach to problem solving and change management.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft office (i.e., Excel, Word, and Power Point).

Ability to work independently and within a team.

Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with managers and staff at every level of the organization.

Enthusiasm about working for the public broadcaster, implementing corporate programs and initiatives.

Understanding of the broadcasting industry including multimedia platforms is an asset.
