Human Resources Generalist

SALARY RANGE:
$26.63 - $35.44 / hour with paid vacation.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Human Resources Generalist is the first point of contact for HR-related matters. The position supports Program Managers and the Executive Director with all HR functions including: employee relations, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, recruitment, training and development, performance management, labour relations, and providing general advice and guidance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate Certificate from an Ontario College Human Resources program
A minimum of 2-years of work experience in HR required.
Work experience/education in employment law, ESA, and/or other area of regulations.
Experience in a unionized environment with collective bargaining and negotiations.
Knowledge and experience with administration of employee benefits, insurance, and pension plans.
Experience with development and implementation of HR Policies and Procedures.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to form credible trust-based working relationship with employees, managers and the union.
Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality of information and exercise tact and diplomacy.
Valid driver's license, insurance and access to a vehicle required.
Experience working in a not-for-profit environment is preferred.
ASSETS:
Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or enrolled in the program with goal of completion;
Payroll experience / education including time management systems.
DUTIES:
Communicate HR policies and procedures to staff and ensure compliance with employment laws and standards.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and orientation processes.
Administer employee benefits, retirement plans, and maintain vendor relationships.
Facilitate performance management, recognition programs, and employee training.
Provide guidance on employee relations, including complaints, investigations, and discipline.
Maintain current job descriptions and support collective bargaining and labor management meetings.
Collaborate with the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee (JOHSC) and assist with WSIB reporting.
Manage exit interviews and provide insights to leadership.
Assist with unemployment claims and various HR reporting tasks.
Perform general administrative duties and other tasks as assigned.
