As an organization that prides itself on making a difference in our community, we are seeking a compassionate and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The HR Generalist plays a pivotal role in supporting the HR and leadership team in a variety of areas including talent acquisition, occupational health & safety, WSIB claims management, policy compliance HRIS data management, workforce planning and learning & development to enhance CLB's ability to continue to strive for excellence in attaining strategic HR goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
HR Policy & Compliance
Ensure HR policies and practices remain compliant.
Promote and update HR policies and procedures.
Maintain HR due diligence and liability controls.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
Support strategies for effective recruitment, onboarding, and staff retention.
Employee Relations, Coaching & Culture Development
Support with conflict resolution and engagement.
Provide support in all aspects of disability and attendance management practices.
Recommend practices that support a positive, inclusive organizational climate.
Health, Safety & Risk Management
Support the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
File WSIB claims and promote safe return to work and preventative practices culture.
Promote staff safety through adherence to policies and incident reporting.
Training & Development
Support employee learning initiatives, including skills development and role-specific training.
HR Systems, Processes & Data Management
Ensure data accuracy and streamlined workflows within HRIS and Microsoft Office file management.
Key Requirements
Degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field with specialization in Human Resources
Completion of the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP or CHRL) designation
A minimum of two years related human resources experience in the public or non-profit sector
Practical and current knowledge of legislation related to Human Rights, Labour Relations, Occupational Health & Safety, Employment Standards, WSIB and other relevant legislation
Experience working in a unionized environment, including Employer/Employee Relations and Joint Health & Safety Committee participation is an asset
Knowledge/experience with WSIB and disability management, including implementation of return to work /accommodation plans for occupational and non-occupational claims
Experience in workforce planning and talent acquisition
Strong communication skills - clear, empathetic and professional in both verbal and written interactions
Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Proactive, solutions focused mindset with the confidence to support managers and staff through sensitive HR matters
Demonstrated ability to work in and support a diverse, inclusive and equity focused environment
Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS systems or other related software programs
Resourcefulness and flexibility to meet the needs of the organization
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Successful completion of a Police Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening
