Job Title: Human Resources Business Partner
Location: Pearson International Toronto Airport (YYZ)
Reporting to: General Manager, YYZ
Job Summary
Administer the organization\xe2\x80\x99s established human resource programs so that they are implemented efficiently and equitably and comply with all relevant collective agreements, individual employment contracts, regulations, laws, and the organization\xe2\x80\x99s employment policies and standards. Responsible for Human Resources and Labor Relations for the YYZ station (ground handling and cargo businesses)
The HRBP will report directly to the General Manager and has a dotted line with the corporate VP of HR for Swissport Canada.
Job Responsibilities
Take part in business reviews to provide status against defined HR/labor targets to date and to identify proactively current and future people related issues as well as solutions/new opportunities.
Employees/Labour relations
\xc2\xb7 Interpret and apply collective agreement (3) and company policies for all departments (time and attendance, Code of conduct, etc.)
\xc2\xb7 Advise and manage discipline matters for unionized and non-unionized employees;
\xc2\xb7 Address complaints, workplace investigations or concerns identified by the unions;
\xc2\xb7 Manage and resolve grievances with union representatives;
\xc2\xb7 Prepare cases for arbitration, working with legal counsel, as required;
\xc2\xb7 Participate in 3 CBA renewals (1 in winter 2024);
\xc2\xb7 Ensure compliance with various legislations and regulatory bodies including the Canada Labour Code, Human Rights Code and others;
\xc2\xb7 Proactive in presenting initiatives and solutions to workplace related issues;
\xc2\xb7 Act as a facilitator between the different stakeholders in the workplace (management, unions, colleagues)
Disability management
\xc2\xb7 Oversee Return to Work program (both permanent/temporary and occupational/non-occupational accommodations);
\xc2\xb7 Ensure compliance with H&S and worker compensation legislations and regulatory bodies including the WSIB;
\xc2\xb7 Liaise between operational leadership and external disability management provider
\xc2\xb7 Represent the company in dealings with various governmental agencies including ESDC, WSIB and Human Rights Commission.
\xc2\xb7 Monitor industrial relations and employee relations developments to prevent disputes.
\xc2\xb7 Provide recommendations to management and assist in collective bargaining agreements negotiations with unions (3) and in representations before work-related authorities to determine agreements and minimize the legal risk of the organization.
Others duties
\xc2\xb7 Lead succession and talent management within the station to identify its capability strengths and gaps and plan effectively to ensure appropriate staffing that will meet current and future needs;
\xc2\xb7 Update/develop/implement policies and procedures as required;
\xc2\xb7 Maintain involvement in and provide guidance and support in other areas of HR including benefits administration, payroll, recruitment, orientation;
\xc2\xb7 Provide training to management regarding the collective agreement, HR policies and procedures and to assist them to work with their employees to achieve their performance standards.
\xc2\xb7 Support in the design and implementation of organizational development, performance management and talent retention efforts at all levels of the station;
\xc2\xb7 Facilitate and support change programmes/ initiatives to achieve a client driven business to ensure maximum effectiveness, minimise the loss of key employees and maintain effective employee relations;
\xc2\xb7 Support all communications initiatives and channels to employees;
\xc2\xb7 Contribute to driving world class employee satisfaction within station through the implementation of relevant organisational initiatives that build on employee commitment;
\xc2\xb7 Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Competencies
\xc2\xb7 University Degree in Human Resources Management (HRM) or in Industrial and Labour Relations;
\xc2\xb7 Minimum of 3-5 years HR experience with a strong emphasis on labour relations and disability management;
\xc2\xb7 Strong preference given to candidates with the CHRP designation;
\xc2\xb7 Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English);
\xc2\xb7 Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence a range of audiences;
\xc2\xb7 Good knowledge of federal employment legislation (Canada Labor Code, duty to accommodate, \xe2\x80\xa6);
\xc2\xb7 Experience in the aviation industry (an asset);
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of business management principles and practices;
\xc2\xb7 High energy, personal presence, and maturity as components of leadership ability to facilitate the best decision making and values;
\xc2\xb7 Excellent decision-making skills based on facts and analyses;
\xc2\xb7 Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask;
\xc2\xb7 Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint);
\xc2\xb7 Ability to build and maintain strong interpersonal relationships.
\xc2\xb7 Ability to work in a team environment as well as autonomously.
\xc2\xb7 Personal and professional integrity of the highest order.
\xc2\xb7 In person presence at the Airport office for a minimum of 3 days a week
