Position Summary

Are you passionate about shaping organizational success through innovative HR strategies? Join our dynamic team at the University of Regina as an HR Business Partner within the Organizational Development and People Programs department.

As an integral part of our team, reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership and line managers to drive the delivery of comprehensive HR programs, policies, systems, and processes. Your primary focus will be tailoring these initiatives to meet the diverse needs of academic and administrative leaders across our esteemed University.

What You\'ll Do:

  • Strategic Support: Provide high-level strategic support to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with the University Strategic Plan.
  • Consultative Role: Offer guidance and support to all levels of management on a range of HR issues, emphasizing organizational enhancement and individual employee success.
  • HR Function Oversight: Work collaboratively with HR professionals across various functions within the HR Team, including strategic planning, recruitment, organizational development, diversity and inclusion, immigration impact on recruitment, and change management.
  • Performance Management: Assist management with performance-related matters, processes, and necessary development or training needs.
  • Policy Implementation: Consult on the interpretation and application of HR policies, procedures and the five collective agreements on Campus.
  • Cultural Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of faculty and administrative units, their operational plans, budget, and culture to enhance engagement and commitment to HR advisory services.
  • Consistency and Prioritization: Collaborate with the Director and fellow HR Partners to ensure consistency and prioritization of HR advice, policies, and procedures throughout the organization.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and address potential risks associated with complex HR issues across multiple functions.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Assess and analyze critical workforce metrics and data to provide informed insights driving decision-making and strategy for the client\'s leadership team.

Position Requirements

What You\'ll Bring to this Position:
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field; and
  • 5 years\' experience in providing strategic human resources support and advice.
  • Preference will be given for individuals who have experience providing human resource services in a unionized environment.
  • A CPHR designation is considered an asset.
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:
  • Exceptional knowledge of human resource legislation including the Saskatchewan Employment Act and SHRC legislation;
  • Excellent knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines including but not limited to talent acquisition, employee onboarding, performance management, coaching, organizational diagnosis, and contemporary practises in employee engagement;
  • An understanding of the value of creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment;
  • Experience coaching and providing advice on complex people relations issues (e.g., performance management, employee engagement, restructuring, change management);
  • Strong ability to actively seek opportunities to consult, influence, build and sustain successful relationships and gain alignment with Institutional and Human Resource priorities to accomplish University objectives;
  • Strong customer service orientation and planning, priority setting and negotiation skills to manage multiple clients with competing priorities;
  • Analytical, critical thinking, independent thinking, planning and organizational skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and frequently changing priorities;
  • Good follow-up and follow-through to ensure deliverables;
  • Ability to use empathetic listening skills, communicate with clarity and maintain an attitude that conveys respect, resourcefulness and a passion for client service;
  • Ability to maintain and build strong positive working relationships with colleagues, faculty, staff, administrators, students and the general public;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and foster a cooperative spirit within a large and/or small team of diverse cultures; and
  • Previous experience working in unionized environments, higher education or the broader public sector is considered an asset.

Salary Range $76,506 - $114,756 Annually
Status Permanent

Monday-Friday; 8:15 am - 4:30 pm.
