The opportunity: The University of Manitoba is looking for a Human Resources Associate. This position will primarily be responsible for ensuring HR forms and paperwork is accurate and entering the data into the HRIS system. The HR Associate will also assist employees and applicants with navigation and technical issues relating to the HRIS system.   • Completion of a training program in a related discipline is required.
  • Minimum one year of general office experience required, preferably in a human resources department in a unionized environment.
  • Client support/customer service experience essential.
  • Experience with, and/or knowledge of VIP or similar HRIS (human resource information system) strongly preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong analytical skills for form analysis essential.
  • Ability to pay strict attention to detail essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment is essential.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize as well as the ability to deal with multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, etc.) is required, knowledge and ability to use queries and to apply formulae in Excel is an asset.
  • Strong mathematical skills required to calculate complex pay adjustments.
  • Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
