The firm is primarily focused on project work that involves the restoration or management of river and shoreline systems, with integrated and standalone service offerings in:Environmental investigations and monitoring Channel and coastal design Environmental permitting Construction observation


GEO Morphix is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive HR & Safety Coordinator/Payroll Specialist to join our team. This office-based role is ideal for someone who thrives in a small-medium sized business environment and enjoys wearing multiple hats. You will be responsible for managing payroll processes, supporting human resources functions, and coordinating health & safety initiatives to ensure compliance and promote a safe, positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

Payroll Administration

Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time using ADP payroll software Posting entries to the General Ledger, reconciling payroll and benefits accounts, and compiling information for payroll reports using Excel Administer employee benefits, deductions, and year-end reporting (e.g., T4s) Respond to internal and external inquiries for payroll Maintaining an updated knowledge of payroll requirements and legislations, and ensuring the company's compliance to all relevant legislation

Human Resources Support

Assist administration of health and dental benefits plan and RRSP matching plan coordination Review and approve employee benefit forms for health/professional development spending accounts Ensure recruitment, ROE and termination information is processed accurately and within specified legislated timeframe Administer employee vacation and time off requests Support the planning and execution of company social events Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes

Health & Safety Coordination

Support workplace inspections, record meetings minutes, act as safety coordinator, prepare H&S presentations, and order PPE Support the administration of online H&S management software (e.g., 4Safecom) Assist administration of the HSMS and maintain H&S documentation such as H&S binders, online systems, H&S board material, etc. Help perform annual company-wide H&S audits (external and internal)


QualificationsDegree or diploma in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, H&S, or a related field Minimum of 3 years of experience in in payroll and HR coordination, or similar role Proficiency with ADP payroll software and QuickBooks, or similar Familiarity with timesheet and expense software is an asset (BigTime) Knowledge of Ontario employment standards, health & safety regulations, and IHSA standards Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organizational and time management skills Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment CHRP or CPA designations (working towards them is an asset) Valid G Class driver's license and access to reliable vehicle
