Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with Waldale Manufacturing, to recruit an HR Manager to join their team in Amherst, Nova Scotia.

Role Description:
The HR Manager will become a highly valued team member, supporting the Leadership Team, and all Waldale employees, on any HR-related matters. You will have the opportunity to lead and improve on various HR processes in areas such as recruitment, training and development, employee engagement, and performance management, while also supporting the day-to-day operations of the business. You will become the first point of contact for any HR-related queries and be a trusted confidant and resource to all employees.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for vacant positions, including creating/posting job descriptions, screening/interviewing qualified candidates, and preparing letters of employment;
  • Support the onboarding process, working closely with hiring managers, and acting as the first point of contact for new employees;
  • Coach and advise managers/supervisors on how to navigate various employee-related issues;
  • Own the attendance management process, leading all company monitoring and reporting practices;
  • Administer and enhance the Employee Benefits Program, including the selection and management of retirement saving programs across both Canada and the US (i.e., RRSP, 401k);
  • Enhance, edit and create all HR-related documentation, including company policies and the employee handbook;
  • Provide advisory support and market knowledge/trends to Managers concerning compensation and supplemental monetary rewards;
  • Create and executive employee retention strategies through engagement initiatives (i.e., team-building activities);
  • Manage sensitive and confidential employee information, protecting the security of said information.
Your Qualifications:
As the ideal candidate, you are an energetic and people-oriented self-starter who is eager to make an impact on an established and growing organization. You are well-organized, confident, and able to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications include:
  • Post-secondary education, preferably with a concentration in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related discipline with relevant experience will also be considered;
  • CPHR designation would be considered a strong asset;
  • Minimum 5 years\' experience in Human Resources, ideally handling Generalist functions;
  • Strong knowledge of current employee/labour rights, laws, legislation and regulations;
  • Excellent attention to detail, coupled with the ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills;
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision, and closely with a team;
  • Experience administering a Group Benefits Plan.
